I hate how this product was marketed. It&#39;s confusing.

Do you use facial oil? Well, I don&#39;t. I don&#39;t like how it feels, I don&#39;t like how it leaves my oily skin even oilier. I guess I just have yet to find the right facial oil for me. But for now, I prefer my sleeping masks if I want more nourishment &amp; hydration.

Then Dear Klairs dropped this product! A serum that provides the rich hydration of a facial oil without the oily finish. Oh yes! So when Wishtrend asked me what products I want to try from them, I included this one out of curiosity and hope that it might be the product I was looking for.

Then the trying, reviewing &amp; researching begun. Okay so before I head onto my review, let me just rant a bit. The product name is misleading if nothing more than a marketing strategy to generate hype. This is not an oil okay? This is a water-based serum, there&#39;s no oil in it. I understand they might be trying to communicate how the Fundamental Watery Oil Drop provides the nourishment of oils without any actual oiliness, but still, I find it unnecessarily confusing. *end of rant*

The product is amazing though! So here&#39;s my review 💛

Dear Klair Fundamental Watery Oil Drop

🌼key ingredients: Enriched with Jeju Green Tea Water, Rice Ferment exteact, Bifida Ferment Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate and Peptides, provides regeneration, antioxidation and well-aging properties.

🌼formulation&#47;texture: It&#39;s a thin clear serum with slightly thicker than water consistency. Gets absorb quickly onto the skin.

🌼application: I use 3 drops then apply using my palms and spread it evenly on my face. I do it at night before my moisturizer.

🌼coin: $31 for 50ml of product. It&#39;s a good price point for the amt of product you get.

🌼verdict: Marketing strategy aside, I really really like this product. This has 2 of my fave ingredients (green tea and rice extract) plus HA too! It really did a great job in hydrating my skin and making it more plump. I don&#39;t know abt well-aging benefits bec my goal is to use this serum for extra hydration and it did its job pretty well! Would def recommend to oily&#47;combo sometimes dehydrated skin like mine. I&#39;ll give this a 4&#47;5✨

Not oil, which I actually like but it could be confusing. 

Love the texture, very hydrating for my super dry skin and doesn’t feel sticky. I like to use it to prep my skin before applying makeup

Retailing at $49 AUD this is quite an expensive product. However, I do find this worth it if you lile hydrating serums.

🤍 Thoughts:
Is it an oil? A toner? Serum? The stand-out factor about this product is it’s unique texture. It feels like a watery serum, but once it’s rubbed in and absorbed, it has the richness and emollience of a light oil. It’s very confusing, but I completely enjoy it. 

Otherwise, this is a really simple product and lives up to the name of the ‘fundamental’ line. It’s fragrance free, gentle and incredibly hydrating. I have been using this for the past few weeks at night and loving it. In the winter, I am still layering with another moisturiser on top. But for the summer (and for my oily skin friends), I can see this working well on its own. 

Also, it needs to be said. What pretty packaging?! Look at that clean white glass bottle with the luxuriously long pipette! 

She gets a 5/5 from me - Will totally be repurchasing. ✨

When I used it on top of my moisturiser, as a facial oil, I felt like it never fully absorbed. I didn’t really enjoy the feeling of it, just sitting on my skin…

I personally avoided to use it like that and sticked to using it as a “hydration booster” for my moisturiser and it worked just perfect!!

This was a lovely addition into my winter skincare routine. I really liked how multifunctional this product can be: you can either use it as the last step of your routine (on top of your moisturiser) or just mix a few drops into your cream.

I personally preferred to use it together with my night moisturiser. It added the so needed moisture to my skin, especially during the cold winter days!!! I always woke up with soft and hydrated skin the morning after using this!!

Sadly, it didn’t work well with my skin during summer ( it was just too oily for me…). Even tho I really can see this product as a “good alternative” to facial oils which I might be too heavy for some — this is way lighter!

Key Ingredients:

Packaging/color:
Clear glass bottle with white lettering and dropper cap. Serum is also clear and colorless, and is runny but more viscous than water. No scent.

Usage:
After cleansing and toning, apply 2-3 drops of the Watery Oil Drop on the face and massage from the face down to the neck.

My Experience:
This was the perfect addition to my summer skincare routine, as it became to hot and humid to comfortably include a true face oil. It does feel a bit like an oil, but not quite as greasy. It also dries down faster than most face oils I've used. It's definitely hydrating, and my skin looked and felt plumper after application. It behaved very well under the rest of my routine, and under tinted SPF when I wore it. (I don't really wear makeup but I imagine that means it would work well with foundation as well)
