Mugwort - I want to know more

I am considering getting one specifically for skincare products - the one that you can use as part of your vanity. 

At home, I normally store most of the items in the fridge, kept in one of the organizers but since I relocated overseas and sharing the fridge with other housemates, I couldn’t do that anymore because of the lack of space. 

I want to get your thoughts if: 

1. If you have a chance, will you purchase a mini-fridge too? Why and why not? 

2. If you already have one, can you share the pros and cons and which brand of mini-fridge are you using? 

3. If you already have one, what products do you store there?

Skincare mini fridge: must have or not?

Hi there! 

I have a dark brown spot about the size of a pencil eraser on my cheek. It used to be darker and a little thick to the touch but when I strted using Krave Great Barrier Relief, it has become lighter and now it’s smooth to the touch. 

Any product suggestion to lighten the spot? Thank you!

Hyperpigmentation on the cheeks

Hi there! 

Could you please recommend to me your HG eye creams that are good for addressing any of the following: 

- fine lines
- puffiness
- dark undereye area. 

I am asking this for a friend and I am also keen to know your suggestions. 

At the moment, I am using The Plant Base and Klairs Fundamental Eye Nourishing Butter. 

The Plant Base works okay and it is an all-in-one cream too, but I haven’t used it long enough to see the effects. 

As for Klairs, I just started on this and testing it still so no comment so far.

Eye Creams - which ones are you using currently?

Hello there! 

I have been trying to improve my skin care routine. My skin type is Oily/Sensitive so if I layer some products, my skin will have irritation a few hours later, if not immediately. 

I live in Singapore and it’s very humid here and my skin gets really oily in the day when I am working from home. In the office, it’s a different case because the office is airconditioned. 

Can you all suggest a routine (AM and PM) that works for you most of the time, I want to copy! Hahaha 

My current routine: Cleanser (Paula’s Choice), Vitamin C Serum (fresh), moisturizer (Farmacy) and SPF (Paula’s Choice)

Routine for Oily/Sensitive Skin Type

This is a soothing pad that is made out of 75% pear extract from Baegun Mountain in Korea. Product claims to deliver hydration to the skin. This also has plant-based hyaluronic acid. Comes in a PP tub with a screw cap, a plastic protective layer, and plastic tweezers. 

The pad is decent-sized and made from an eco pure cotton pad. I like that this product has an immediate cooling effect upon application, it has a good amount of essence in the container, enough for you to use the pad on your whole face, neck, and back of the ears. After that, the toner remains damp and I could still use it for my elbows. It has a light finish and doesn’t leave my skin feeling sticky.  

This also soothes my skin on some days that my skin is feeling irritated because of the humid weather. I like to use it as a patch mask on my cheeks. l also think that my skin looks a little brighter after using this soothing pad. This is fragrance-free and while other people think that it’s a missed opportunity to have a hint of pear scent to it, I like it as it is. I will definitely repurchase.

Not sure about the hydrating claims because it is so watery that I feel like using just water. 

Comes in a minimal PP bottle with a screw cap, staying true to Skin 1004’s packaging. This toner has Singreen, a natural exfoliating ingredient that helps remove dead skin cells. It also has Allantoin and a mix of fruit extracts: Plum blossom, Apple, papaya, Grape 

The texture is watery and very buildable; does not dry tacky. It is lightweight and feels refreshing on the skin. I’ve been using this for a month now and while the brightening effect is not that visible yet, my skin feels a little glowy. 



Short PAO of 6 months, with fragrance from natural ingredients

Glow Recipe has released this “facial in a jar” clay mask with claims to shrink the pores, exfoliate the skin, and surge skin with moisture. 

The packaging is a pastel pink glass jar with a screw cap and comes with a plastic spatula. The product has a yogurt-like texture with gentle scrubs in it. 

Glides well on the skin and easy to apply too using fingers, brush, or spatula. 

They did a great formulation on this because this is the first clay mask that doesn’t dry out and just acts like your normal face mask. It felt a little cooling on the first application but goes away once the product has settled on your skin. The scrub is gentle and fine, not abrasive at all. Comes with a mix of BHA and PHA that my skin was able to tolerate. 

I followed the 5 minutes instruction and my skin didn’t feel any irritation, no redness, no itchiness that I got from other clay masks. Does what it claimed to do: to tighten your pores. My skin looked almost pore-less after I washed this off my skin! There was also an immediate smoothing effect and my skin felt soft afterward. Does not feel drying at all. 

This has a fragrance in it that comes from natural ingredients. The scent is obnoxiously sweet to my liking as the watermelon smell was overpowered by berries (this has Goji Berry fruit extract but smells like a mix of strawberry and raspberry to me. People with sensitive skin must, please check the full list of ingredients before purchasing.

Washed off very easily. If you have sensitive skin, it is advisable to leave this on for 2 minutes vs to the normal 5 minutes recommended time. 

Overall, I love this mask but the price is quite steep.

I don’t feel like it is hydrating enough and I couldn’t see any visible effects on brightening too. Maybe it needs more time to really see the visible results and with this huge bottle, I am hoping that I will see better results. Watch this space. 

This ampoule comes in a glass bottle with a dropper. It is formulated with Tranexamic Acid and Lactobaccilus Ferment.  Product claims to strengthen skin’s barrier and brighten skin tone. 

The texture is viscous and comes with microbeads that are absorbed easily by the skin. Love that it is lightweight and non-sticky. It does not have any stinging feeling. 

Well, it’s a single-use pod so it’s wasteful, packaging-wise.

This was introduced to me by my friend when she hoarded this product when she went on a vacation in Japan. I love to bring this when I travel (not that we are getting most of that nowadays) because of its powder form. 

I love its texture when I lather it on my skin, it has a faint fragrance, almost smells like milk in body wash form. The packaging has its pros and cons - very useful when traveling and because it is in single-use pods, you can have the right portion for every use.
