has anyone else ever had that kind of day where you just want to go to bed, so you slap on a drastically streamlined version of your routine and call it good enough? what products do you still use, and which do you omit? do you apply them the same way as when you're putting in effort?

i think it's fun to reflect on what worked and didn't work throughout the year. i'll start—mine was the tenzero balancing foam cleanser in charcoal. its intense fragrance gave me headaches, and i hated the squeaky clean feeling it left my skin with. still got the job done, but at what cost haha

what was your worst product of 2022?

for your everyday makeup, what kind of look are you usually going for, and what type of products do you use to make that happen? is it something you put a lot of effort/time into, or just a grab-and-go in the morning kind of thing? do you change it up often, or do you have an established routine and favorite products you stick to?

what was the first product you purchased this year?

- fallout-prone; those sparkles seriously migrate everywhere
- base color is quite sheer when used without a primer underneath
- really expensive for the amount of product you get, especially since there are so many dupes in the kbeauty space

swatched in room light without vs with eye primer, and compared to the shade cinnamon pastry in the etude play color eyes bakehouse palette (space cowboy on top, cinnamon pastry below) ↴

urban decay space cowboy is a warm, dark peach with diffuse silvery and peach-colored sparkles.

+ delicate, "wet" looking sparkles
+ great for easy one-and-done looks

- slight stinging sensation due to menthol component
- i kept accidentally eating some off my lips and getting a sore throat :(
- offers zero hydration (although it doesn't dry out my lips either)
- does not seem to actually plump up your lips? or at least it did nothing for mine. i didn't mind this since i didn't buy it looking for a plumping effect, but it's definitely something to keep in mind!

⬐ swatched bare and over peripera ink airy stick in #04 bestie pink, on light skin in room light with flash on

this product is a clear lip gloss with the prettiest wet, glossy finish, and tiny little flecks of multicolored glitter distributed sparsely throughout. importantly, it also is a plumping gloss, which i did not know when purchasing this because the brand website never mentioned that in the description 🥲 the ingredient used to cause this plumping effect is menthol, so there is a very noticeable kind of cold feeling that lingers on the mouth for a really long time after application—like, at least half an hour. i also experienced some stinging on my lips, but it wasn't too uncomfortable.

+ the wand has a silicone applicator!! why don't all lip glosses come with applicators like this?? so hygienic and so easy to wipe colored lip products off so the gloss isn't contaminated
+ super pretty when layered with a colored lip product, especially reds
+ strong minty smell and cold feeling after application—i found this fun but ymmv
+ average lasting power for a lip gloss; i'd say it disappears after maybe two hours max?

- the mattes had almost no pigmentation, even by kbeauty standards, but were reasonably buildable. the swatches shown in the video needed multiple swipes to get the pink shade visible on camera, but it's definitely more perceptible irl
- the mattes have a milky white base that makes them appear soft and harmonious on lighter skin tones, but they're likely to look ashy on darker skin

i do like this palette, but it feels very one-note. i can only recommend it if you're around shade 13-17 in korean foundations and want a quad for creating simple, sweet, and consistently similar cool-toned daily eye looks.

i think the color story and pigmentation of this palette would be suitable for subtle daily makeup to enhance one's natural features; the pink matte could be used as a brightening point shade or double as blush on high chroma complexions, while the shimmers are so pretty on the eye or as highlighters, and the brown matte could be used as contour on fair to light skin. tbh the shimmers were really the stars of the show here, but you probably can find dupes for those in any other kbeauty palette.

+ the shimmer shades have the most gorgeous soft, understated sparkles; the bottom left one especially makes me feel like a fairy
+ self-sufficient for casual daily makeup

- it's lightly scented, which might be annoying for some; i find it hard to describe the smell—sweet, maybe vanilla-ish, with a hint of something else? a bit like a lighter version of the etude fixing tint. i can smell it in the bottle and on the wand, but luckily not so much on my lips.
- the milky color base might make this look ashy on darker complexions.

peripera ink mood glowy tint in i'm pinkest is a sheer, cool-toned strawberry milk pink with a glossy finish. ymmv, but on me it combines with my lips' natural pigmentation to make a deeper, more muted rosy pink color.

tbh i bought this just for the packaging, but i actually really love this formula! it's lightweight and doesn't feel sticky, and leaves a true to color stain behind after the gloss wears off.

- noticeable white cast due to being a physical sunscreen (could be nice if you want a tone-up sunscreen though)
- skin definitely feels like you have sunscreen on when you touch it

+ comfortable matte finish
+ didn't make me break out
