Centella Calming Gel Cleanser
💦 Barr Cosmetics tells us that the Centella Calming Gel Cleanser is a mild second cleanser designed to gently exfoliate and remove dirt.
It uses:
*0,35 Gluconolactone (PHA)
*1% Cica, 0,1% green tea and very little houttuynia to soothe skin.
*0,1% Allantoin, HA and betaine to hydrate skin.
*Milder surfactants like Olefin Sulfonate.
*Levulinic acid and Disodium EDTA as preservatives.
This is a clear and odourless gel that lathers but doesn't foam. It cleans and rinses off properly and my skin was left soft and a little dry after the first use.
But... I'm super Picky with cleansers, so for the ones that know me, it won't come as a surprise that this product didn't work for me.
Anything with PHA is just bad. Really, really bad for my skin. It dries me out super badly, damages my skin barrier and my skin peels off no matter how little the percentage.
This cleanser with its 0,35% PHA left my skin in really bad shape after just two uses, as you can see in the last slide.
I posted it in my Stories and many people wrote to me saying that PHA, especially in cleansers, have the exact same effect on them.
I'd like to say that if your skin can manage PHA, I actually think this is a pretty decent cleanser.

Great insight. I haven’t used PHAs before but my skin is dehydrated so I don’t want to aggravate my barrier. And it seems a bit superfluous for PHAs to end up in a daily cleanser.
