Niacinamide + Moisture Beet Serum
Review~ Somethinc 10% Niacinamide + Moisture Sabi Beet Max Brightening Serum
This 10% niacinamide serum sits on a base of centella asiatica leaf water. The formula also has humectants like glycerin and hydrolized algae extract to help seal in hydration to the skin. Caffeine is also present which can temporarily lessen redness. Antioxidants like beet root extract and vitamin e are at the bottom of the list, which I imagine to function as formula stabilizers more than anything else.
I came from 4% niacinamide serum, which is plenty enough for me--and honestly for most of us. Niacinamide is not necessarily better at higher percentages. 1-5% is actually the range that's been studied to yield results--anything higher is just increasing the risk for irritation. With that being said, I am glad that this did not irritate my skin despite of the high concentration of niacinamide.
I use this in the morning immediately after cleansing, while my skin is still slightly damp. It's gentle on my skin. It does not sting nor does it make my skin red. It leaves an ever so slightly tacky finish that disappears after I top it off with a sunscreen. As I used this daily, I noticed that my T-zone is not as oily at the end of the day anymore--even despite of my occasional mask-wearing. My skin got noticeably brighter as well, but I do use other actives like azelaic acid and tretinoin so take that with a grain of salt.
Overall, I think that this is a good lightweight serum for people with combination-oily skin. I love how it gives a healthy glow to my skin that does not look oily or unflattering.
I wish it came in a 60 ml bottle because I know I'd use this 20 ml in about a month🙈
