Hi! I'm starting to incorporate double cleansing in my routine, and bought Missha's Cleansing Oil which contains salicylic acid as an ingredient. I hope to use it thrice a week, probably MWF.

However, I have a 10% AHA 2% BHA serum that I use once a week. I'm worried it might be too irritating for the skin to use this at the same night routine as the oil (e.g., every Wednesday night) or on consecutive days (cleansing oil on Friday and then the exfoliating serum on Saturday).

My skin type is resilient, but I overdid it with actives a month and a half ago and have since healed my skin. I'm trying to be more gentle to my skin while still being able to use actives to target my skin concerns (blackheads and hyperpigmentation). Do you think I might irritate my skin when I use the oil and cleanser together?

Using exfoliating cleanser and serum

I've been using my moisturizer for 2 weeks now, and initially it didn't have any adverse effects towards it (even if it contains fragrance). It felt soothing for my skin.

However, starting Wednesday last week, I started using 10% niacinamide daily. I also did a chemical exfoliation on Friday night.

Last Sunday, I noticed my face felt hot and it slightly stung when I put on my moisturizer. It didn't sting at all when I put the other products beforehand, though.

I stopped using the niacinamide and also I haven't exfoliated again, but it still stings when I use the moisturizer. What could have gone wrong? ☹ What can I do moving forward?

Why does my moisturizer sting?

I recently introduced 10% niacinamide to my routine to help with hyperpigmentation around my mouth, especially on top of my chin. I've started noticing peeling (or dry patches?) only on that area earlier today, and I'm not sure if the area is drying out or if it's peeling to get rid of the darker skin.

I regularly moisturize using Hada Labo's Hydrating Lotion and Innisfree's Green Tea Balancing Lotion EX so I can't see why my skin would dry out :( It's also very humid where I live.

Is this reaction normal? What would you recommend I do or change in my routine? Thank you!

Does niacinamide cause peeling?

It&#39;s a bit too expensive for the price, especially if you&#39;re planning on using it as a daily moisturizer. Can recommend this only if you have extremely sensitive skin

It&#39;s true that it&#39;s a skin recovery cream! When I damaged my moisture barrier, it never stung applying this and I could tell it was hydrating my skin well enough. My dry patches all went away! Really an amazing product. Its consistency is creamy, but it&#39;s lightweight and absorbs easily when put on the skin!

It can feel a bit tacky upon application since it takes a while to sink in. That feeling goes away after a few minutes though.

I have oily screen but this is still my holy grail. I damaged my skin barrier, and was on the process of recovering when I used this. It&#39;s gentle on the skin, and it&#39;s very healing! I also feel my skin so moisturized the day after.

The smell is really noticeable. Luckily, I like it, but it may be too strong for others.

This product doesn&#39;t have alcohol, so it didn&#39;t feel stripping nor drying for my skin. I was used to stronger toners, so this one was gentler for me, almost like water. I also loved the Rose Petal smell!
I never broke out because of this moisturizer, and when I would have small bumps, it would go away the day after I use this toner!
