I'm so excited because I finally got my Revolution Retinol 0.2% serum today! 😊

I've never tried retinol before, so I can't wait to see the results. But at the same time, I'm a bit worried that I'll overdo it and my face will hate me. 😣 

I want to try it today, so any last-minute tips? 😉 I'm thinking about mixing a drop into my moisturiser rather than using the serum directly. 🙂

"Sunscreen is always the last step!" Is that what you answered? 🙂 Sorry to disappoint, but it's not so straightforward.

When you search for routine order, you'll always find the routine ending with moisturizer and then sunscreen. But in fact, the order depends on the sunscreen type.

🔆 PHYSICAL sunscreens should be applied as the last step, AFTER moisturizer because they reflect the sun rays directly and need to be on top.

🔆 CHEMICAL sunscreens, on the other hand, should be applied BEFORE moisturizer because they need to absorb into the skin for them to work correctly.
If you were to apply it as the last step, occlusive ingredients in moisturizer may decrease the amount of absorbed sunscreen and it won't give you the claimed protection.

I'm not sure where does that leave hybrid sunscreens but I'd probably decide based on which sunscreen ingredient comes first on the list 😉

How do you use shower oil? I know shower gel, I know body oil, but I have no idea what's a shower oil. 😅

I got Rituals shower oil some time back but there are no directions on the bottle. The website also provides only a little guidance.

Are you supposed to apply it on dry skin and rinse it like cleansing oil? Or mix it with water right away? I'm so confused 😵

We had the first snow yesterday ❄️😊 and I need a new daytime moisturizer for this cold weather.

I have oily skin but I prefer something heavier because the air in our offices is very very dry. If possible, something that's not dewy.

So which moisturizer from my stash should I open? 😍

EDIT (conclusion):
Seems like the Pure'am balm got more votes so I opened it and wore it both today and yesterday. I'm really happy with it: it's not overly dewy and my skin doesn't get red and itchy in the afternoon. 🥰 The texture is also very nice. 🙂

Daily moisturizer for winter

This was an impulse buy but I love pineapple and I've never seen that as a skincare ingredient so I had to have it as soon as I saw it. 😁

It's not yet on Picky but it seems they have a whole pineapple routine 😯

I'm so curious about this serum. I found that pineapple is moisturizing, and soothing and also has exfoliating properties. I can't wait to add this to my routine. 🤩

Not for dry skin because it tends to be too drying and sensitive skin because it contains fragrance.

Effaclar Duo Plus is a spot treatment/moisturizer for oily, acne-prone skin. The key ingredients are LHA and BHA, which exfoliates dead skin cells, and Niacinamide to reduce acne marks. It's alcohol-free but contains fragrance.

This moisturizer comes in a 40ml tube with a long applicator, so it's easy to use as a spot treatment, and the application isn't messy.

🔵 Texture and smell
Even though it contains fragrance, the smell is faint and cosmetics-like, not overwhelming. The texture is lightweight, almost gel-like, and spreads easily. It absorbs very fast and does not feel sticky or oily. The finish is slightly matte, and it may feel a bit drying.

🔵 My experience
I got this when I had a bad breakout, and my spot treatment couldn't handle it. I saw this on sale and gave it a try, and it worked perfectly. I was using this in my whole jaw area because I had a lot of acne there, now I use it only as a spot treatment. It's a bit drying, so I always follow with a moisturizer and use it only in areas where needed.

I'm sharing my before and after 1 month pictures for comparison. I saw positive changes after a week, but my skin is affected by my period, so I wanted to be sure it wasn't a fluke. It helped me with the breakout, but I didn't notice any changes in the acne marks.

🔆 Packaging
This sunscreen comes in a very convenient pump that contains 50 g of sunscreen. I didn't know I needed a cream in a pump until I've tried it. It is so much faster to apply and less messy than tubes.

🔆 Texture and smell
It has a nice scent: it smells like summer and the beach. 🤩 The texture is creamy but light. It glides nicely on the skin, absorbs almost immediately, and leaves no white cast. The finish is natural, slightly dewy but doesn't look oily.

🔆 My experience
I like to use this sunscreen instead of a moisturizer in the morning. It doesn't sting in the eyes or cause any other irritation and didn't break me out. I'd say the pumps roughly correspond to finger lengths, so I use 3-4 pumps for my face and neck.

It doesn't feel heavy on the skin and I also can't feel any "heat" after application which I got after using some chemical sunscreens in the past. 

I wasn't a chemical sunscreens fan due to bad experiences before but this certainly made me give them another chance. 😊

Yes. I enjoy that I don't need to use both moisturizer and sunscreen because in summer I like to do as few layers as possible. I'm very happy I got to try this product because it's now my favorite chemical sunscreen. I'd recommend this without hesitation to anyone who's looking for a good chemical sunscreen and also for skincare beginners because it's easy to tell how much SPF to use.

I'd prefer this sunscreen to be less dewy.

This review is for the reformulated version. I haven't tried the old one but I've noticed that some older reviews mention this being too heavy which is not the case here so I suppose the texture has changed a bit.

This sunscreen comes in a 50 ml plastic tube. I really enjoy the simple clean design.

⬜ Texture and smell
The texture looks very heavy in pictures, but is in fact rather fluid, spreads very easily, and is quite lightweight. Right after application, it leaves a visible whitecast but it almost disappears within a minute and a bit of blending. The finish is more on the dewy side but isn't sticky. There is a faint smell, but it's barely noticeable and not at all bothering.

⬜ My experience
When I was applying it for the first time, I started to freak out about what to do because my face was completely white, but then I noticed it started to settle and after a minute all that whitecast was almost gone, no kidding. So if you get this sunscreen, try to be more patient than me. 😅

It feels very nice on the skin and I didn't experience any irritation or breakouts. I like to use it on top of my light gel moisturizer because I think it's not moisturizing enough on its own. The whitecast is there but barely noticeable on my skin, and I'd say it actually makes my skin look prettier because it's not ashen white, more like a bright white, if that makes sense. However, I still think it would be too much for darker skin tones.

⬜ Would I buy another one?
I'm not a fan of a dewy finish, but I really love the formulation. It's a mineral sunscreen with almost no visible whitecast which is rare and it feels comfortable on the skin. I'm not sure if I'll repurchase this one but I'm very intrigued by Rovectin sunscreens now, so I'll probably look at their other sunscreens and find one with a more natural finish.

The finish is a bit too dewy for me and slightly tacky.

I loved the old Klairs sunscreen, so I'm very excited to try this newly launched one. 

💛 Packaging
This sunscreen comes in a simple 50ml plastic tube. I like that the cap is not glossy like it was on the old sunscreen because there were always visible fingerprints on it. But I'm not a big fan of the smaller size (the old one used to be 80 ml).

💛 Texture and smell
It has a chemical smell (reminds me of new pneumatics), but it's not bothering me and goes away after application. The sunscreen has a light fluid texture with a yellowish tint, spreads easily, and absorbs very fast into the skin. It leaves a somewhat sticky film on the skin, but it makes the skin feel moisturized. The finish is slightly dewy but doesn't make me look oily.

💛 My experience
I absolutely love how it feels on the skin. It's hard to explain, but it feels like some super hydrating serum right after application and light at the same time. I like using this instead of a moisturizer. I also enjoy how easily it spreads, so no need to unnecessarily rub the skin.

The only issue I have with this sunscreen is the film it creates on my skin. When I touch it, I can feel some of it transferred to my fingers, which I don't like. It's not unbearable and definitely not as bad as some other sunscreens I've tried, but it's something to consider before purchasing.

It is a chemical sunscreen but I didn't experience any irritation on my face, including the eye area.

Maybe. I love that I can use it as a moisturizer and it's safe to use around the eyes as well. But the dewy finish is sometimes too much for me, it depends on my skin condition, so I don't reach for this sunscreen every day.

The product comes in a generously sized tube (250ml), so you do not have to worry about running out of it soon. On the other hand, you can't easily fit it in a purse, but you can use a small reusable tube or other containers for that.

🟣 Texture and smell
It has a creamy texture and no noticeable smell. The cream absorbs very fast. It makes the skin a bit dewy right after application, but it changes to a natural-looking finish within a few minutes. The skin is then smooth and silky to touch and not sticky. It does not feel heavy on the skin at all.

🟣 My experience
I love that it is an all-in-one product, great as a body lotion or face moisturizer, even great for hair. I like to use it on my hands and legs all year round. I have oily to combination skin, so I prefer gel moisturizers for my face in summer, but this is the perfect moisturizer as soon as the weather gets colder. This product is indeed very moisturizing. It contains shea butter which is considered risky for oily skin, but I did not experience any breakouts or clogged pores after using this lotion.

I enjoy the finish this lotion leaves because it is not dewy but not completely matte and makes the skin nicely smooth. I also like to use it for my hair ends whenever they feel dry.
