Hi! I swim a lot so I am looking for a waterproof SPF, preferably cruelty free. I’m currently using the Cell fusion C laser sunscreen, but I couldn’t find any info online on whether it is cruelty free or not. Thanks!

Best cruelty free + waterproof SPF?

Looking for a new cleansing balm. I haven’t tried a cleansing balm that I absolutely LOVED yet. I tried the banila clean it zero purity and it was ok, nothing mind blowing. Looking for something that will give skin benefits besides just cleaning makeup off. Any suggestions?

This is a really nice retinal cream. It’s not greasy or anything at all, but it still provides a good amount of moisture. There’s a very faint scent to it that doesn’t linger. 

Effectiveness: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I really like retinal in how effective it is without being too harsh. After applying this cream at night, I immediately noticed an improvement in my skin’s texture the following morning. It wasn’t irritating or anything at all either— pretty balanced between gentle and effective.

Packaging: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The packaging of this is super cute, and the pump works well for dispensing the product. It’s pretty small and almost looks like a travel size product. I’m not a huge fan of the neon yellow, but other than that I like the packaging a lot.

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I really like this product and it’s one of my favorite retinoids I’ve tried yet. It’s cute, effective, and my skin tolerates it well. It is pretty pricey though considering how tiny it is, but I think it’s still worth it!

The original Klairs vitamin C serum worked really well for me, so I had high expectations for this. It did not disappoint— in fact, I think this one is even better than the original! The texture is much better in this serum and doesn’t feel greasy at all. It’s more like a clear gel that feels like a moisturizing serum. It doesn’t smell like anything either, which is great, because a lot of vitamin C serums smell bad. 

Effectiveness: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This serum absorbed super easily into my skin and delivered great results. Since I’ve already used vitamin C previously, it’s a bit harder to see changes in my skin, but I could tell that this made my skin look bright and smooth.

Packaging: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The packaging is great and is an improvement from the original. I know a lot of people didn’t like how the original was in a clear bottle since vitamin C oxidizes, but this one is solid. I also prefer the pump to the dropper. It also looks nice and I think the holographic look is really pretty. 

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I’m really impressed that Klairs could make an already good product even better. The $40 price tag makes me a bit hesitant to buy this, but I will definitely still repurchase this regardless (I’ll just look for a sale 😅)

The package is decent looking, but personally I would have preferred it in a shorter and wider tube. Because it’s so thin and tall, I had this product fall over a lot when storing it, which could be a bit annoying.

This was a really great first retinoid and I loved using it. I would love to get more, but I just can’t justify paying so much for a single skincare product, especially in such a small amount. I do feel though that it is definitely worth trying at least once.

Dr. Different VITALIFT-A ($42): This is a retinal cream that is used to smooth out and improve the appearance of aging skin.

Experience: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is the first retinoid product I’ve tried. Retinoids have all sorts of great benefits for skin, but can be very drying and damaging to skin barrier if used improperly. I used this 1-2 times a week and had no issues at all with dryness or irritation. The formula itself is also pretty moisturizing, so it balances out with the drying properties. The texture of this cream is relatively thin, but it goes on feeling a tiny bit greasy. Thankfully, it feels fine after it sinks in for a while. Personally I don’t like greasy feeling textures, but I also understand that it may have been necessary for moisture balance. It had a faint scent to it which I personally liked, but find hard to describe.

Effectiveness: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This stuff was undeniably effective on my skin. Although I didn’t particularly like the initial feel during application, I would wake up the next morning after using this with my face feeling amazingly smooth and not oily at all. I definitely felt an improvement in the elasticity of my skin from using this, and I would totally get a bunch more of these if it wasn’t so expensive.

Enjoy Super Active Airy Sun Stick ($20): I’ve been looking really hard for a Korean sun stick that I can use for swimming. Unfortunately, this wasn’t it. Most Korean sunscreens aren’t waterproof, so it’s even harder to come across one that is both waterproof and a stick. When I bought this, it was advertised as waterproof, but after swimming for a couple hours I still saw a noticeable tan. I don’t think this was actually waterproof. It’s also insanely small— like maybe as big as half the palm of my hand. I did read that it was small in reviews before purchasing, but I didn’t expect it to be THAT small. It’s almost so tiny that it’s impractical to use. I have to admit that it’s kind of cute because of how tiny it is, but it was a pain to apply the sun stick to anywhere other than my face. I get that skincare products are generally made for just your face, but I feel like SPF is the one product that should work for both your face and body, as all your skin needs sun protection. It also ran out really fast because it was so small. This stick didn’t even last me an entire week before I ran out. As for the finish of the sunscreen, it was nice that it left no white cast, but it did leave a kind of greasy feel on my skin that I didn’t particularly like.
