The Origins’ Checks & Balances cleanser is a gentle, mousse-like everyday face wash that works to remove  makeup, impurities and surface oils while leaving your skin a “comfortable clean.” It contains mint essential oils to invigorate the skin. 

Directly from the brand: “This frothy face wash with Broad Leaf Kelp Extract, Wheat Protein and Tourmaline cleanses and purifies all skin types.”

How to use: Squeeze small dab into palm then add “tepid” water and work into a lather. Wash face while avoid your eyes. (👀 oops) Rinse thoroughly. 💦 

Recommended for: Dry, normal, combination, oily and sensitive skin. 

My experience: I love this cleanser. I can use it no matter the season, which is what I think the Clinique All About Clean Rinse-Off Foaming cleanser wanted to do, but couldn’t. I love how it lathers and cleanses my skin without me needing to use a lot of product. (I used way too much in the video.) I have had this product for just over a year and it is good for 2 years so that is perfect.

Recommend? Yes.

Origins pro-tips: If you have a brick-and-mortar store you can go to, then get samples and have them do one of their 5-minute facials. They will look at your skin and recommend products for your to try and create a routine around it.

Part of me thinks I want to get a skin care fridge for my bathroom countertop. I keep some products in my food fridge, but some nights I am just too lazy to make the trek. 🤣 So for those of you who have skin care fridges, do you love yours?

A few months ago, I took a product recommendation from a well-meaning friend. It helped her with her sunspots and I thought it would do the same with my hyperpigmentation. Instead, it ended up wrecking my skin barrier. I broke out so badly and what follows a breakout? HYPERPIGMENTATION! So I was causing the same problem that I was trying to fix. I wanted to tell everyone to just be patient with your skin it is just doing its best. I have been healing my skin barrier and one product has definitely helped. More on that later! 

We are all going to have to learn patience, I guess. 😉

Recovering from a bad product

It can be easy to use too much. I recommend working a pea-size amount in your palms, then working in a little water at a time until it it frothy.

My skin was clean, but it didn’t feel how I wanted it to feel. It can take a bit to work into a lather, which can be annoying. If you have used this product, then you know. 

Also as a person, I try not to support it cosmetics because I am not going to give money to a company that has shown that they don’t care about me or people who look like me.

I started using this cleanser because I had just finished my go-to cleanser, Origins Checks &amp; Balances, and I wanted to use up a few of my smaller ones before going for a larger one. Enter Confidence in a Cleanser. I didn’t like this cleanser. Maybe it is because it was formulated to be a universally used cleanser, but I feel like this is kind of a nothing cleanser. It doesn’t directly hurt my skin, but I don’t see any benefits either. Actually, I had a larger than normal hormonal breakout than in normally do while using this cleanser. (This cleanser while also trying to finish the Drunk Elephant Jelly cleanser. So that could also be the culprit.)
