I’m looking for product recommendations please. My skin and especially my eyes are very sensitive and it seems like every chemical sunscreen I’ve tried irritates my eyes. Sometimes it takes a half hour or so after the sunscreen settles to start to irritate, but it seems to always happen! 😢

I don’t usually have those problems with mineral sunscreens, but most mineral sunscreens leave my skin dewy and I want it to be more matte without the need for makeup. 

Tl:dr Need sunscreen that is matte, non-irritating, & doesn’t dry skin out pretty please 🙏🏻

Challenge Rec: chemical sunscreen for sensitive eyes that isn’t dewy?

This sun cream contains alcohol and fragrance.

There is not much of note in the ingredients list and it ended up stinging my sensitive eyes once the product settled. I also prefer a more matte finish, and this is not meant for that. However, I could wear it all day just fine as long as I didn’t put it near my eyes. 

The Water Sun Cream (gifted by Stylevana) is a vegan hybrid sunscreen with chemical and physical filters to defend against UVA/UVB rays. It glides on like a lightweight lotion, hydrates with bamboo water, and soaks into the skin quickly without leaving a whitecast and leaves behind a dewy finish.

For those that don’t have particularly sensitive eyes or dry skin and prefer a dewy finish, this sunscreen is perfectly capable of meeting your needs with a good SPF 50+ PA +++

It is a bit on the expensive side and will not clean off heavier makeup, but I don’t usually wear makeup that much so this wasn’t a big issue for me. 

This was a gentle cleanser that didnt strip or irritate my dry sensitive skin, removed sunscreen and light makeup, and smelled like wine 🍷 
 
The color can run anywhere between light pink to deep fuchsia due to the natural extracts in it. It is unique in that it transforms from a jelly to an oil on the skin to a milk when you rinse it off. It also has no artificial fragrance or essential oils, which I always appreciate, and is vegan and cruelty-free.

It would also be nicer if the sun protection were higher. SPF 30 PA ++ is pretty low nowadays. 

The Shimmer Sun Essence (gifted by Stylevana) is a light pink hybrid sunscreen with chemical and physical filters to defend against UVA/UVB rays. It was designed to tone correct and double as a makeup primer. It contains Niacinamide and Shea Butter and is moisturizing, but not overly so.

This Sun Essence is relatively lightweight and soaks into the skin quickly without leaving a greasy feeling or whitecast behind. It wears well under makeup, doesn’t pill, and its pearlescent formula gives you an extra lustrous glow. It stands out for its more unique finish and multi-use capabilities.

I haven’t noticed a particular brightening in my skin yet, but I might just need to use it for a longer period of time. 

For the last month, I’ve been trying the Rice Pure Essential Toner (gifted by Stylevana) and it has not disappointed. 

The skin brightening and barrier strengthening effects of the rice extract and niacinamide created a highly moisturizing product with the added benefit of Centella for extra soothing and nourishing effects. I loved that there were no fragrance/essential oils.

This toner and essence in one has a thicker viscous texture that, nonetheless, sinks in effortlessly and makes my sensitive skin feel soft and soothed. It also layers well. 

I have really enjoyed the experience and will continue to use it. I think this would work great for all skin types, but might be more needed in the cooler fall/winter months.


It’s a little too lightweight for my dry skin, but I think it would be nice for those with oily skin. It has a little rosemary oil which I don’t particularly like in my skincare. 

This lightweight gel cream with Niacinamide and Green Tea Extract is hydrating and absorbs easily and quickly into the skin and is vegan and cruelty-free.
