I’ve been wanting to make this post for quite awhile. it’s with regards to skincare and those who suffer with things like depression . 

I’ve always suffered with depression since I was quite young and the problem with people who suffer with depression is that self-care pretty much goes right out the nearest window. People with depression find it very difficult to look after themselves, they don’t really see themselves as someone worth looking after and at time you can be just too tired. it takes a lot of effort to function as a person and skincare is usually the last thing that you want to worry about. I know I’ve struggled with it for many years and the trick I found is that achieving one thing every day is better than achieving nothing. 

I decided to make skincare my one thing that I can achieve every day apart from taking my medication which I get help from my mum with. 

I don’t have a set sleep pattern so the whole skincare in the morning and the evening can get mixed up quite a bit especially when I go through bouts of not sleeping. So I say to myself when I wake up that’s when I will begin my skincare routine and when I go to sleep that’s when I finish my skin routine for the day. This way I have achieved something in my day everything else I really struggle with but I found that I’ve started to enjoy my skincare routine. it also helps that I’ve now found products that will work for me which hasn’t always been easy because my skin is a pain in the proverbial backside. 

With with regards to self-care a lot of the time I never bothered personally because I didn’t value myself and I still struggle with that even today I’m just wondering if there’s anybody else out there who struggles as well. It may seem kind of trivial and maybe superficial that something as simple as washing your face and putting stuff on it can make a difference but for me it makes me feel a little bit more human now and if I miss out doing my skincare routine it’s okay,  I can always go back to it. There is no such thing as a failure when it comes to skincare so if I do miss a day it’s not the end of the world. For me it takes a lot of pressure off me and I know that sounds silly but honestly just getting through a day sometimes that’s enough and not feeling like a total failure of a human being makes all the difference.

skincare and depression

I’m 38 and I’ve been very lucky to get away with not useing skin care products beyond a semi decent face wash and a bit of moisturiser.  I got turned onto wishtrend by a YouTube I follow and it’s honestly helped me out allot. 

I’ve been experimenting for just over a year with different products and apart from one face cleanser they have all mostly been duds for me. 

Does anyone else find this? That own country skin care products just don’t work for you? 
 
I like what I’m useing right now but it is pricey and I’m not rich, so I struggle with affording it. I don’t want to go back to useing cheaper stuff because frankly it’s a s**t show for my skin and dosnt end well! 

(Thou I also acknowledge that some of my skin care success is also down to a change in diet and drinking more water) 

Anyways this is a bit rambly but was just something I was wondering about.  I still have no idea why toners are important etc but from what I’ve read basic skin care should be cleanser, toner and moisturiser along with any eye creams you might need.

Ok so as I’m in the UK I’m looking for some help with sunscreen. I’m trying to find a face one that isn’t oily and thick and will Irritate my skin and make me break out. I’ve had bad allergic reactions to sunscreens in the past. It’s got something to do with aloe vira and the chemicals in sunscreen that my skin does NOT like. I always end up looking like I need antihistamines ASAP! It’s a nightmare. So anyone have any good face sunscreen ideas, I live in the UK but mostly shop online? 

I mean I don’t go out at all and when I do I mainly am covered up as I don’t like sunlight as a rule, I’m kind of like a creature of the night but I do gardening therapy once a week and I need something to protect my face now it’s getting all bright out their and we’re aloud out again.

UK Sunscreen help

Can be a bit runny so you have to go careful when applying it so as not to waste it. Which isnt always easy if your half blind like me and not fully awake untill you have 4 cups of tea and a large coffee inside of you.

I have no idea what toners do for your skin to he honest. Ive never had a skin care routine until now. Im nearly 40 and ive managed to skate by on just washing the old mug and getting on with my day. 

I cant really get away with that now a days. In the last year ive tried allot of diffrent skin care products. Ive given each product a two month trial to see how it goes with my skin. So far ive yet to find a toner that didnt leave me skin very tight, sometimes painfully so UNTILL NOW. 

I got put onto some Korean skincare products by a YouTuber I follow on YouTube of course. They were having a sale and i took a chance and im really glad I did.  This toner does not have any scent, its very light and my skin loves it. Easily ansorbed and it can be layed if you need to add a but of extra umph to your skin. 

My face isnt tight after useing it and I dont feel like I’m layering one product after another onto my face after using this. it’s absorbed easily and then it’s gone. It seems to really work well for me.

Their are two bad points to this sunscreen. It does leave my skin feeling a bit dry when used all day outdoors. So night time i have to double clense and make sure to use a bit of midnight klairs cream otherwise my skin is very tight and dry the mext day. 

Their is also a slight white cast. This does go away after half an hour but it is noticible when first applyimg.

As far as making sure your face doesn’t turn into a big red tomato when the Sun is beating down this sunscreen has worked out really well on my skin. I’m quite impressed with it’s staying power and you dont need a massive amount to cover your face and neck. It goes on quite well and it does dry with a somewhat mate finish.

The only thing I dont like is the scent. To me its pretty powerful and can make my eyes water if i dont make sure to wash it off completly. I do think thats more down to me thou as the Area around my eyes is very sensitive to strong oders.

Ive been very lucky in that I havent really needed a skin care Routine untill now. I don’t as a rule where make up and I’ve never really been bothered by acne or really bad blemishes on my skin but I’m nearly 40 now and it’s time to get a skincare routine. I’ve been using this solidly for about a month and a half now and it’s been really good. I thought my skin was pretty okay before I started using this but it’s absolutely brilliant now.  my skin is a lot softer, it’s more moisturised, it doesn’t feel as dry or tight after washing my face so I’ve got to give it to thumbs up. Its a brilliant Cleanser for older skin I think.

Sadly this is now in the emergency skincare draw which basivally means if i run out of other stuff this is a last resort product. I found it Extremely deying to me skin, ive used it once and 3 days later my skin is still tight around my brown and upper lip so if i can avoid using this again I will. 

The scent also really irritated my eyes and they felt slightly funny all day.

I didnt noticed any white cast and it went on pretty easily and was absorbed well into the skin.  It wasnt really oily which I liked.

Recently Klairs have increase the size of these tubes so there is more moisturiser because that was my only complaint really was that it runs out far too fast now that isn’t so much of an issue.

Hands down the beat Moisturiser I have ever used. Ive always struggled With moisturisers,  it’s either to hydrating or two dehydrating and it’s taken me quite a long time to find one that is just right. This moisturiser is fantastic,  it absorbs really well into the skin and you can use as little or as much as you like.  you can layer it up which is really good if you’re having a bad dry skin day or you’re having a really oily skin day. I really like how light the formula is and how easily it’s absorbed i to the amin and how quickly as well. It really is a very versatile moisturiser. 

The last three months of useing this Moisturiser has really changed my skin. I dont break out, I dont gwt dry patches and my oily t-zone has really calmed down. This also dosnt feel oily when on the skin and ive yet to find a better Moisturiser.
