Every now and then, skincare market seems to fixate on certain ingredient which suddenly becomes focal point of new products / lines releases (and everyones skincare routine). 

I still remember the buzz created by “discovery” of Mugwort’s super calming properties ( OR even better example - Centella Asiatica - probably one of the most popular plant for skincare use under the sun)

While I am not here to minimize amazing effects of these ingredients, I must wonder how many (equally amazing) ingredients do not get enough exposure.

I strongly belief OATS is one of them!

When I started to look more into oats and its use for  skincare purposes I found two informations which sparked my interest:
A) Colloidal oats is very well researched skincare ingredient ( You can find hundreds of medical papers regarding its skincare benefits)
B) It has been extensively used for variety of skincare condition for ages ( There are record proving that oats was already used for medical purposes during Roman Empire)

Why is oats so amazing? 

Similarly like Centella Asiatica, Colloidal Oats have several compounds that can benefit our skin in several ways. These are: 

	1)	Beta-glucans (polysaccharides) - have possibility to hold water and therefore provide deep hydration to the skin while prevent moisture loss (similar principle like Hyaluronic Acid which is also saccharide). Additionally, they can increase collagen production. 
	2)	Anti-oxidants - Oats does contain relatively high percentage of different anti-oxidants. There are two main anti-oxidants which can be found in oats: A) Avenanthramides and B) Ferulic Acid. In general, these are able to provide skin with many positive effect including shielding skin from environmental stressors or battling inflammation (list goes on and on).
	3)	Saponins - Is a gentle natural cleanser that has ability to cleans skin from oils and skin without over-stripping it. Perfect option for those who suffer from dryness or hate harsh surfactants.
	4)	Oil - Besides containing anti-oxidants and vitamin E, it is also rich for Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids. Nice occlusive for people who have compromised skin barriers.

	-	Itchy skin (sunburn/ insect bites/ irritation caused by plant)

I have found two main - commercially accessible - brands that have based their products around use of Colloidal Oats which are AVEENO and FIRST AID BEAUTY.

Aveeno particularly has so many great body and face products containing oats that I can not possibly name them. You literally can find anything and everything. (Probably the most popular is CALM + RESTORE line)

When it comes to FIRST AID BEAUTY, they have number of face moisturizers, masks but also face oil and face toner.

Colloidal Oats: underrated ingredient?

Hi Guys, 

I have had some medical issues and my body skin has been affected. I have had my whole life dry skin type but not too reactive or overly sensitive skin. Never issues with body skin per se. 

 I would love to know from people who suffer from eczema (or other autoimmune type of skin condition), what bodycare products work for you the best ? Can include body washes / lotions/ creams. 

My main issue is abnormal dryness and irritation (mainly around my elbows/ lower back/ knees etc.) I have been using La Roche Posay Cicaplast and I like it but I would love to find more options 💕.

Do you have some Kbeauty and/or Western brand recommends ? I was thinking of Illiyoon or Klairs Supple prep. lotion?

Body care for eczema prone skin?

Lately, I have been trying to cut my skincare spending not only because of saving some coin 🪙 but I also feel overwhelmed with skincare at time. 

I would like to know how often you purchase new products and how many unopened products you have at home. (Also, how many new products do you introduce to your routine during one month?)

I love skincare but sometimes I really feel like I need to chill with buying and introducing new products 🤨.

How often do you purchase new skincare?

I have never suffered from acne or breakouts. I would get few pimples here and there (especially during my period) but nothing major. Few days ago I stared to observe break outs on sides of my neck. I was weirded out because at first I only had one on one side but writhin days it spread to the same location on the other side of my neck. They don’t have any pus inside. 

I have absolutely no idea why I am getting breakouts on the neck while having none on my face or neck down. Also it’a not that time of the month for me. 

Any ideas ?

Very nourishing and gentle cleanser. Product has gel texture which does not foam. It could be use both as AM and water based PM cleanser. 

One of the top ingredient is Oat which makes this clenaser perfect for irritated&#47; barrier compromised&#47; dry skin.  I think you might really enjoy it if you have sensitive skin &#47; rosacea&#47; acne or if you over exfoliated and your skin feels “blah”.

Product is alcohol, fragrance &amp; essential oils free.

I also love the the price point - 8-10$ for 232 ml - which is amazing!  

I would recommend and I would repurchase! 💗

It does contain Bergamot Fruit and Sage oil. If you use only fragrace&#47;essential oil free products - probably not for you 😊!

Love Love Love this cream! I have just finished my 2nd tube and can’t recomment it more. It is a very nice “basic” moisturizer that could work for so many of us. It has minimal ingredient list (as its name suggest - only 12). 

Packaging is nice and sturdy. Cream has more of a “chemical” scent to it and texture of cream is quiet light yet very moisturizing. I have used it both as a day and night cream (when used as a night cream I paired it with an oil for an extra moisture). 

If you are anywhere between dry&#47;normal to combo I think you might really enjoy it. It probably would not be enough for peeps with extra dry skin. 

I definitely recommend and will repurchase in the future!

One of my most repurchased and beloved skincare product! Toner is a safe choice when my skin is freaking out or I just need some quick routine for the day. 

Toner has some great great ingredients (including Centella, Aloe Vera and Licorice extracts + Beta-Glucan). It has viscose, bit goopy texture that sinks easily into the skin. You can totally build it up or use it as a DIY sheet mask serum! 

This version is unscented so it does not contain any fragrance nor essential oils. Great choice even for those who have the most reactive skin. 

It is soothing and hydrating! Definitely one of mu holy grail products 🥰! 

Would I recommend - YES! 
Will I repurchase - YES! 
Great for - any skin type!

Mainly two issues: 

1 - Product is cleanser but it does not cleanse skin properly. It is nice to be used as morning cleanser but  it would not be enought as a second step of double cleansing, especially if you tend to wear lot of sunscreen and&#47;or make up. Skin is left with make up residue. 

2 - Availability: product is easily accessible in the US but it is really hard to purchase in the EU (probably in the rest of the world, too). Too much hussle with shipping cost and customs.

This cleanser is a true embodiment of what creamy&#47;milky cleanser should look and feel like. EXTREMELY gentle and soothing. It has light oat scent to it which I found oddly satisfying. As a dry skin type, I loved to use this cleanser as a part of my morning routine when my skin did not feel very dirty&#47;congested. It is quiet nourishing which was appreciated especially during winter period. Ingredient list is pretty good - product is free from alcohol, fragrance &amp; essential oils. I would recommend it for people who have very sensitive&#47; reactive&#47; acne prone or dry skin.

This essence is one of those products which doesnt  seem to do a whole lot for your skin BUT once you stop using it, you undersatand how amazing it is! Essence is very hydrating without making your skin feeling overwhelmed. You can easily pack several layers and still add some toner on the top! There is also slight brightening and exfoliating effect (I would not call it exfoliating and brightening product per se - its more just like a nice bonus). Also, it is alcohol, fragrance and essencial oil free 🤗 so more of us can enjoy it. I have dry skin and love. I believe any skin type would enjoy and benefit from using it. I definitely see myself repurchasing in the future! Rating: 9.5&#47;10
