Unfortunately, something in this ampoule disagreed with my skin. I’m very careful when introducing new products to my skincare routine, and I tried it on its own and with products I know my skin loves. However, after carefully testing it out, I noticed small whiteheads in areas I normally don’t experience breakouts. I stopped using the ampoule for a bit, let my skin “reset”, and reintroduced it. The same thing happened each time. I really wanted this product to work, as the ingredients are great and align with my skincare goals. I will happily pass it along to a friend! 

I received this product for free from Picky and SKIN1004 in exchange for my honest review. On paper, SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Tone Brightening Capsule Ampoule is a great product. It’s alcohol/fragrance/oil-free, and boasts a number of benefits. The texture is a perfect balance of not too watery and not too thick. It dries down to a soft, skin-like finish and layers well under other products. The small beads suspended in the ampoule aren’t gritty and melt away as you rub in the product. There isn’t any noticeable smell, just a simple, clean skincare scent. A huge bonus is how much you get, it’s a generous 100mL. The dropper has a slight bend at the end, which I found useful for placing the ampoule directly on my face without touching the skin. 

The actual design of the product is minimal and streamlined, which looks great on my skincare shelf. If you’re concerned about aesthetics, SKIN1004 is just gorgeous. 

To dive into the ingredients, the ampoule is full of antioxidants (Madecassoside & 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid), moisturizing humectants (Xylitylglucoside, Anhydroxylitol, Xylitol), skin brightening agents (Niacinamide & Tranexamic Acid), and the star ingredient of Centella Asiatica Extract. All skin types would benefit from this ingredient list, and it seems especially suited for dry and/or dull skin.

There is a distinct fragrance to this product due to the inclusion of citrus oils.

This ceramide mist is lightweight, while still being nourishing and hydrating. I love using this as a first step in my skincare routines, as well as between steps when I need an extra boost. The spray is extremely fine, which is amazing. During the summer, I plan on storing a bottle in the fridge for extra cooling on hof days.

The double essence toner definitely has a fragrance to it. It smells a bit like a vintage lotion, almost a soft cold cream scent. I don’t mind it, and I’m not sensitive to the fragrance ingredients, but patch test if you are.

This toner feels like a hug in a bottle. It’s extremely lightweight with a thin, watery texture, but leaves my skin soft and hydrated before my serums and moisturizer. It absorbs quickly, leaving a soft, dewy finish, and it plays well with other products. I live in a dry, cold climate, and this product is a perfect step in my winter routine. The ingredients are simple, full of ceramides, and my skin loves it.

It’s also very fun to shake up the bottle to watch the double layered formula mix together. 

There is a fragrance to this product, which isn’t necessarily bad, just something to watch for if you’re sensitive. If your skin is extremely dry or dehydrated, you might need something a bit thicker.

I LOVE this moisturizer and will absolutely be purchasing in the future. The texture is a lightweight gel cream, which is perfect for my oily/combination skin. Despite the light texture, it provides enough hydration for day and night. It sits well under sunscreen and makeup, as well. A little bit goes a long way, and I highly recommend trying this out if you’re looking for a simple, but effective cream. 

The packaging is so goofy, but someone else might appreciate it. The ampoule comes in a syringe, and it can be dispensed directly onto the skin or onto your fingers before applying it. There’s enough for two applications, but occasionally I’ve accidentally pushed out too much product or the plunger got stuck. Please offer this in a regular bottle! I don’t need to trick myself into thinking it’s a medical procedure! 

There are a couple sensitizing oils (lavender and bergamot specifically), which I haven’t had a reaction to. If you are particularly sensitive, test patch accordingly. 

I have been thoroughly enjoying this product. I haven’t been using it long enough to see any substantial benefits, but I expect that with long-term use I will see my post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation fade. The short-term results have been an overall brighter complexion and moisturized skin. I haven’t had any reactions, and the formula plays well with other products and active ingredients. 

The texture is light, but not watery, and it spreads well over the skin. After patting it in, it’s slightly sticky, but it absorbs and layers beautifully.
