What is the best facial scrub for sensitive and oily skin? 

I always have dry/flakey patches and mixed with my oily skin I definitely need to exfoliate. However, my skin is super duper sensitive and will react to anything harsh, and is also acne prone. Love a good chaotic combination skin haha! Any product recommendations for me?

Best Scrubs for Sensitive Skin

Hey loves! First off I’d like to ask a starter question: can oily/sensitive skin types use serums? Like is it recommended? I’m always looking to perfect my skincare routine because it is far from perfect (for me at least) and serums is not a part of my steps. 

If it is okay to add one on to the regimen, any recommendations for oily, sensitive skin, yet very dehydrated skin? Thank you!

Serums for Oily Skin

Hi! As the warm weather approaches and the swimming weather becomes hotter, I want to know, what are some of your favourite reef safe sunscreens? Not only for the face, but also the body.

Reef safe SPF?

Warm weather is just around the corner and I am one of those girls that don’t tan, but burn. I of course put sunscreen on under my makeup application, but like to also have that extra protection of SPF in my foundation.

Lately I’ve been really into tinted moisturizers and very light coverage foundations for a more natural look. Any light coverage foundation recommendations with at least SPF35 or higher in it? (Ideally SPF50+)

Best SPF Foundation

Hey there! So I’ll be going to a pool party next weekend. It’s been nearly a year since I last went swimming and only recently did I start taking suncare very seriously. I know that reapplying sunscreen is every 2 hours, but how long should I wait after putting sunscreen to go in the water? I wouldn’t want to wash off all of the protection and would like to have a rough idea of my wait time needed in order to swim protected. Also, since I’ll be in the water, should I reapply more frequently than 2 hours or does the 2 hour margin also apply to when getting wet? Thank you in advance!

Wait time between SPF and swimming?

I just find it to be a bit pricey for a lip product. I find it really difficult to spend more than $15 CAD on anything for the lips because its such a tiny area. This product doubles that price and then some. Only negative I have!

Omg!! This product is so amazing. I was gifted this lip mask by my mother. It’s something I have had my eye on for quite a while, and knew I would love, but because of it’s price, I have been holding off on getting it. When I received this in a welcome home basket from my mom, I immediately jumped on it! A part of me was almost hoping I wouldn’t like it because of its price range, but Tatcha has not once ever let me down and I of course fell in love. I’ve been using it for about 3 weeks now and have already noticed a drastic change in my lips. Before this, my lips were so dry, chapped, and parched. Now, you can see the hydration that has been brought back into my lips and they are so silky smooth! It is quite a thick formula so a little goes a very long way (definitely do not use as much as I scooped out in the video. That was just to show the texture haha that’s way too much) so it can last for so long! You can use a tiny bit for an every day balm, or goop on a nice thick layer and have a super hydrating over night mask. Whatever way you choose to wear this mask, your lips will thank you. Definitely a must have if you’re willing to splurge a bit for the quality! I also love that it comes with a little spatula for a very hygienic, mess free application!

Here’s what I don’t like:

🧼Its texture is very silicony, which I personally do not like.

🫧 I have worked around it, leaving extra drying time in between my skincare and the application of this primer, but even then, you have to be careful because it does sometimes start pilling.

✈️Although the glass is luxurious looking, it’s not super travel friendly because it adds an extra weight to the product. It’s also very thick glass, and a small bottle, so the odds of it shattering are minimized, but it’s still glass, and glass breaks, so it’s worth noting.

This product has a few kinks, but it’s growing on me! Let’s start with the positives:

👤It minimizes the appearance of pores, which makes for a nice smooth base with little pore texture to apply makeup over.

 💄I’m not too sure about it playing a factor in the longevity of my makeup wear (have not yet worn it with a foundation), but it does help contain my oily skin. After a long day at work or school in extreme heat, other than sweat, I don’t have many crazy oils coming through, which I typically do when I wear makeup for longer than 2 hours. This is also with no touch ups!

🧴Its glass component makes for a heavy, luxurious look and feel to the packaging.

👀I haven’t personally experienced any irritation around my eyes, and I have incredibly sensitive skin and eyes so for me that says a lot, but upon reading other reviews, this is a reoccuring negative that many state. I think it’s important to also mention it in mine that although I haven’t experienced any eye irritation with this product, many others have. 

🧴The only negative that I’ve noticed is I feel that as it starts to empty, its packaging designed with a pump will probably become quite annoying towards the end. I assume that because it’s a pump, I will probably not use up as much product as I could have if it were packaged in a tube or jar. The pump definitely helps make it mess free, so I see some positives with it as well, but it may become a bit of an inconvenience as the product becomes used up.

What a lovely product! 

💧Its serum like formula makes it thinner, so it absorbs into the skin quite nicely! 

👤I believe this would be a product great for all skin types, as it is so lightweight it would be perfect for oily skin (like myself), yet so hydrating, perfect for dry or parched skin (like myself)! Its truly a combination skin holy grail. 

☀️I also know you’re supposed to reapply sunscreen multiple times when you’re out and about, but let’s be honest, sometimes we forget or the timing is weird and it doesn’t happen! I applied this before leaving go to an amusement park, and applied it one more time once I arrived. It was such a sunny and scorching hot day, and although I should have, I didn’t reapply throughout the day. I came back home with no burns! Even with the best of sunscreens reapplied, I tend to burn quite quickly. I have not experienced a single sunburn while using this product! It’s amazing! 

🤍Personally, I haven’t noticed any white cast residues, but I also have incredibly pale skin, so I may not be the most reliable reviewer for this concern many people with darker skin face :)

🌸There isn’t much of a scent. Which is really lovely for people with sensitive skin like myself. The scent is closer to that typical sunscreen smell, but not to the point where you smell like sunscreen, which I love. 

🫧I didn’t experience any pilling with this product. It layers over my daily skincare routine well and can have makeup layered over it beautifully. It’s very multifunctional! 

🎒I also love how travel friendly it is with its cap and thin packaging, making it perfect to pop into a bag and go!

I wish it came with a pump as since it is a thick formula, it’s really hard to gauge how much I should squeeze out using the squeezy tube.

This is a really great product! Although I have oily skin and this says it’s for dry skin, it also says it’s for parched skin, which my skin definitely is. This summer my skin is craving intense hydration, and this moisturizer provides that! It’s a beautiful thick, whipped formula that smooths into an almost sunscreen like creamy texture. It seems a bit intimidating at first because of how thick it looks, but once you start smoothing it into the skin it quickly absorbs and becomes a lot thinner than on first application. As someone with oily skin, I didn’t feel like I was wearing a veil of cream on my face and it didn’t create any excess oils. Definitely a summer must have for all those parched skin types out there! Oh! And it doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. A definite plus!

Here’s what’s bad about it:

🧴It’s bottle it comes in is quite large and made out of a very thick and heavy glass, so it’s anything but travel friendly and not very clumsy friendly either haha. You definitely dont want to drop this or you risk making a big mess!

Due to some shipping delays and the deadline for this review, I’ve only had the chance to use this product about 5 times, so it isn’t enough time to write a full review because I like to try a product for at least two weeks before I write a review, but I do have some initial thoughts on the product, and if my thoughts change or I notice anything else as I continue to use this product, I will edit my review in the future.

For now, here is what’s good about it:

🐰It’s vegan, cruelty free, and the box it comes packaged in is noticeably made of recycled materials.

💎It looks luxurious (definitely a product to show off on your vanity), and has a nice weight to it.

🧴The bottle is huge and you only need a few drops that go a very long way, so this will last you a lifetime!

💦It feels quite refreshing upon application.
