Before I got sucked into the wonderful world of K-beauty, I didn't really have a skincare routine for 25 years. QUE HORROR, I KNOW! That all changed when I went on a trip to Korea in 2014 and went crazy in Myeongdong. I remember choosing products  because their packaging design was cute 😂 

I can't remember the exact ones but my first Korean skincare products were facial cleansing foam from Etude House & Tony Moly which was gifted by my little sister way back 2013.

Do you still remember your first Korean skincare product?

The Philippines like all countries have a unique and beautiful culture with deep-rooted traditions despite modernization. 

I known it is still taboo for some to talk about menstruation but I want to share a Filipino superstition related to skincare so we can debunk it and give alternatives instead of continuing this practice.

Hold on to your hats people, it's gonna be a bumpy ride. Okk here we go ... A womanly advice in the Philippines for teens when they get their first period is to wipe their faces with the first period blood so that they will grow up acne-free (smear your face like a warrior lol).

I unfortunately had a mom who believed in this beauty tip and soaked my underwear in a tub of water and made me wash my face with the water (I guess I'm lucky? This one sounds like a toned down version 😂).

While googling if this was actually a thing, I found out that there was something called "menstrual masking" in Western societies.

⚠️ P.S. I do not recommend anyone to try this at home as it may introduce bacteria and other whatnots to your face especially if there are any open wounds.

I hope one of our Picky experts gets a glimpse of this and give me some advice 🙏 Everyone's suggestions and experiences are welcome as well :)

Here we go! So, I'm currently testing out the new ELMT products and started with the Skin Activating Solution which I used in the morning and evening. It was great, no irritations and after a week I switched to the Skin Illuminating Solution which has 10% Niacinamide. On my 2nd day I noticed pimples erupting (okay I'm being dramatic ... forming) on both sides of my cheeks and on my forehead ㅠㅠ 

I know my skin barrier is compromised because I started getting itchy patches on my cheeks again (thank you Rovectin Cica Care Balm for the relief).

My skin is usually resilient so I'm a bit perplexed.
Should I reduce it to just using it during night time or stop it completely and let my skin rest?

Here goes ... I'm interested in sending a care package to a fellow Picky member. I'd like to share a few of my favorite 𝐋𝐎𝐂𝐀𝐋 products and whatnot's.

I have no bad experience with the product aside from it taking time to show noticeable results.

🍋🍊 𝐂𝐎𝐎𝐋 𝐅𝐀𝐂𝐓 🍊🍋

The product is composed of 86.14 % Vitamin tree extract which comes from the Hippophae rhamnoides (sea-buckthorn) plant. This plant&#39;s fruit contains high vitamin C amounts, exceeding the levels seen in lemons and oranges!

🧡 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 &amp; 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 🧡

I&#39;ve seen mixed reviews about this serum and even had a few people tell me that it did nothing for them 😅 As I&#39;m the only one who can tell if I a product will work on me, I still dived in the testing period with high hopes.

🔸️1st week: it absorbs really fast and is a joy to apply since it&#39;s very lightweight and non-sticky! Faint citrus scent, I like.
🔸️2nd week: meh, no noticeable changes. Applying religously now as I forgot to use the product a few times during the first week.
🔸️3rd week: huh, I think my skin looks more brighter or maybe I&#39;m just seeing things. I did introduce a new product to my routine though 🤷🏻‍♀️
🔸️4th week: okay, okay my skin is definitely looking smoother and acne marks have faded a bit. Hmmmmmm...

✍ One thing we have to remember when using brightening products is that most of them will have a slow-burn effect.

I&#39;m still on the fence with this product but will surely use it until the last drop as it doesn&#39;t irritate my skin.

✴ Using this serum with other brightening products might maximize it&#39;s efficacy! Also, I would suggest those interested in the serum to try out their 5ml mini first :)

I still slap on a moisturizer at night before using this, but I think it's perfect to use in the morning alone! It still feels slightly inadequate for my dry, dehydrated skin.

My skin seems to work well with this product, although it's only been less than a week since I started using it. I've had no bad reactions since adding it to my routine & am actually enjoying slathering it on.

It's a light water-gel type product that glides on my skin with ease & absorbs right away! It's said to aid deep sleep for skin (I don't really know what that means), but sleeping masks work overnight to help seal in all the other actives you've used and also acts as a barrier.

There is a subtle hint of a floral scent for a bit that quickly dissipates. I usually stay away from floral scents in my skincare, but this one is an exception. I really like how it smells & it feels therapeutic to massage unto my skin before I go to sleep.

 꿀팁: pop it in the fridge for optimal results.


This product gives you extra hydration but I can&#39;t confirm their claims in inflammation reduction yet.

My skin loves this and drinks it up fast so I tend to layer 1 or 2 more. I use it after my morning and evening cleanse and can feel the increased hydration which makes me feel refreshed. I did not experience any irritation with this product.

Consistency is very runny akin to water, quick absorbing and non-sticky.  The scent is very faint and if you try hard enough it smells herby.

It does, however, give a dewy glow that some people may shy away from.

✨ NOTE-WORTHY INGREDIENTS ✨

 1. Propolis Extract -  powerful healing properties and has activity against bacteria, viruses, and fungi.
2. Niacinamide - boosts collagen production, hyperpigmentation lightning, strengthens skin barrier and helps treat acne.
3. Zinc PCA - supports general healing of skin. Decreases sebum production and helps control acne.

𝐒𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭: cool, fresh and minty
𝐓𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞: lightweight, not tacky with great slip

Absorbs quickly and leaves a slightly cool sensation. This is probably my favorite of all 4 in the AC collection trial kit because of it&#39;s effectiveness on my current skin condition. I&#39;ve had dry, itchy patches on my cheeks which has improved dramatically and I strongly believe it is due to the number of great ingredients in it&#39;s formula that helped address that concern while also repairing my damaged skin barrier. I&#39;d also like to think that the lightening of my post-acne marks has something to do  with the Niacinamide found in this product. My face feels supple, plump and well-hydrated after use.

Just a reminder, nothing bad. Although this product is recommended for daily use, try to gradually increase frequency only until your skin shows no sign of irritation (dryness&#47;flakiness&#47;redness). Also, DON&#39;T FORGET TO WEAR SUNSCREEN!!!

When I say holy, you say grail. Holy! Grail! 𝙃𝙊𝙇𝙔 𝙂𝙍𝘼𝙄𝙇!!! 

When my package arrived, I was nursing two active pimples: a minute pustule &amp; a papule which was painful, red &amp; bigger. It was like the skincare gods heard my plea 🤲

I used 4 drops all over my face &amp; dabbed an extra on the pesky zits as spot treatment before sleeping. When I woke up, I was in awe! 😮 Both saw a reduction in size, with the small one becoming almost flat with a more prominent head. The area was completely clear in less than a week &amp; had minimal to no visible scars. Check out the before &amp; after pics OR IT DIDN&#39;T HAPPEN! HAHA.

This was well received by my skin &amp; I use it whenever I see a new pimple working its way up. The results are always stellar: redness &amp; size always ease up in just a day! Definitely going to stock up (especially when they&#39;re on sale hihi).
