If you have a low pain tolerance, especially sensitive skin, or sensory aversions then you will want to at least patch test this before using. 

I wish the serum came with more information about how the product works and what to expect. The sensation was alarming at first and I was debating washing it off until I saw this was expected. 

I expected a tingling sensation, but this is much more of a prickling, needle-like feeling. The sensation is bearable and goes away quickly (although it was surprising and a little starting a first). 

I started seeing results within 2-3 applications. My pores are naturally pretty small, this serum made them unnoticeable. I’ve even found makeup applies better after using this serum. The slight redness I get on the apples of my cheeks and around my nose has gone down as well. 

It is odorless and colorless and leaves a lightly tacky finish. You don’t need a lot to cover your face and less is more since too much product intensifies the prickling sensations. The packing feels expensive and looks nice too. 

I wasn’t a huge fan of the packaging. It felt clunky and feels a little cheap. 
This is definitely a beginner retinol so it’s not suitable for everyone 

This is a 0.1% retinol and it’s a nice beginner retinol. 0.1% is fairly low, so this is better for those who are new to retinol (most retinol serums I’ve seen are 0.5-2%. Since it’s a low concentration and retinol normally takes at least a few months to see full results, the results will likely take a little longer and be more subtle compared to other major retinol serums on the market. While full anti-aging effects are more long term, I did not notice much short term effects like smooth or glowy skin. 

The serum is quite thick and the texture is more like a mid-weight moisturizer than a traditional serum. It absorbs fairly quickly and doesn’t leave any tacky or greasy residue.

I didn’t experience any flaking or especially dry skin, but i did layer with a rich moisturizer. I did get a few tiny breakouts and I don’t think it was regular purging since I regularly use a 0.5% retinol. I did get some major pilling one day with this serum, but I’m not sure what the cause was because I had kept my routine the same. 

A little pricy compared to other toners and essences, but I think it’s worth it for the results, sustainable packaging, and clean formula. 

I use this after cleansing and layered with some other toners. There’s no artifical coloring or fragrance so it’s a great option for those with sensitive skin. This toner essence adds a lot of hydration to give a nice glow and plumping effect without causing any congestion or redness. I noticed an almost immediate effect after adding it to my routine. It has a thin, watery-like texture that goes on quickly without tackiness. The flip top lid is also great for one-handed use.  Vegan, cruetly free, and sustainable packaging is always a big plus too. 

- I haven’t uses it yet in hot or humid weather so I’m not sure how well it would hold up in those environments, but I could always just use this at night 

- No added dyes or fragrances
- I like the texture. It’s heavier than a gel but feels lighter than most creams 
- Feels rich and nourishing without feeling heavy or greasy 
- Soothing, hydrating, and plumping effects that don’t take an extended amount of time to notice 
- Packaging is aesthetically pleasing ans comes with a little spoon for added ease and hygiene 


- It was not very hydrating, despite that being one of its top claims. I had to use a hydrating serum and thick moisturizer afterwards to get my skin to the hydration level I prefer
- The tightening sensation may be too strong or uncomfortable for some people, but this can be relieved by using a face mist
- A silicone brush would be better for mixing and applying than the bristle brush it comes with. The instructions say to mix the powder and liquid together using the provided brush, but the  mixture clumped and got stuck in the bristles so it was not easy to mix


- My skin looked smooth, even; and glowy after using it
- The packaging and marketing is very upfront about the weaknesses or unusual parts of this mask. It specifically mentions that the “not-so-flowery” smell comes from albumin (an egg white derivative) and that the tightening sensation can be off putting for some
- No added fragrance or dyes
- Easy to follow instructions 
- Washes off easily
- Affordable
- Fun and different mask experience
- Contains enough product to cover my full face and neck
