my benton snail essence has arrived!

My skin is really oily. I mean like reeeeeally oily 😢 I cleanse in the morning and evening, and usually I have to end up cleansing in the afternoon as well because my skin just gets so greasy. I don’t wear makeup regularly so I doubt that’s the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make my skin less oily? Here are the cleansers I use by the way:

Aveeno clear complexioned foaming cleanser (am and pm)
Solved Skincare Coconut Water Cleansing Foam (midday cleanse)

Super oily skin?

What are your favorite toners which are both hydrating and also contain chemical exfoliants? I want to incorporate bhas into my routine but don’t want to give up my daily hydrating toner step. To save money and not buy as many products, I’m wondering if there are any that can kill both these birds with one stone. Thanks in advance!

Favorite hydrating + exfoliating toners?

Hey y’all,
Around the week before my period I start to break out. Mainly small whiteheads and painful acne around my mouth and chin. My skin is clear the rest of the month but it it’s just really problematic specifically the week before my cycle. I have pretty oily skin. Any suggestions of what I can do/use to prevent it and treat it?
To make it worse i’m also a compulsive picker so it doesn’t heal very fast 😭

Period acne?

i liked it, but probably wouldn’t repurchase because i like vitamin c serums and other stronger brightening ingredients more.

lightly hydrating, non-sticky, and absorbs well without any tackiness. it’ll take some time to see the dark spot reduction and brightening results since the ingredients are pretty gentle, but this is a good option for sensitive skin people.

💦there is a whole lot of fragrance in here! and it has a very strong scent which lingers a bit after applying
💦it stings my skin slightly when i apply it (which i’m guessing is due to the fragrance) and this totally takes away from the supposed cooling component of it. alcohol denatured is pretty high up on the ingredients list, and although this ingredient doesn’t bother me personally, i know a lot of people don’t like it. i think if they released an unscented version of this cream it would become an instant holy grail, but as it is, i don’t think i would repurchase or empty this product since it doesn’t really work for my skin. but this has the potential to be a winner if the fragrance was taken out!

💦product claims: a lightweight gel-cream that provides a burst of hydration and acts like a cooling, refreshing drink of water for the skin
💦key ingredients: lady’s mantle, ceramide 3, glycerin, oat extract, calendula extract, shea butter, squalane
💦texture: a true gel cream texture which is lightweight and hydrating without feeling oily or sticky at all
💦overall thoughts: starting with the good–i adore the texture of this cream! it’s perfect for oily/combo skin and is one of the only gel creams i have tried that actually moisturizes as well as hydrates the skin. it provides the perfect amount of moisture and hydration as well, and absorbs really well on my skin. 

♦️overall thoughts: this is a nice starter exfoliant, although i didn’t see any improvements in my acne or pigmentation. ingredients-wise this is a promising product, so maybe those with much more sensitive skin than me would see better results with this. overall, i’d recommend this if you’ve never used any exfoliating products before, but if you are an exfoliants veteran, I don’t think this is worth it.
♦️would i repurchase? probably not, but i can see myself buying this for some of my friends and family who have sensitive skin.

♦️product claims: gentle exfoliation and effective cell turnover. mandelic acid is less irritating than other AHAs
♦️product highlights: vegan, cruelty-free, low pH, free of ethanol, silicon, artificial coloring, artificial fragrance, and gluten
♦️key ingredients: mandelic acid (an exfoliating acid extracted from almonds, removes dead skin cells from the surface of the skin, helps improve pigmentation, inflammatory acne, and signs of aging), panthenol (humectant that helps maintain hydration), centella asiatica (soothes skin)
♦️texture: this is a watery toner without much slip
♦️packaging: it’s a fairly standard toner bottle, and it dispenses a good amount. overall nice and effective packaging.
♦️fragrance: none!
♦️price: 22 USD for 120 mL, which is pretty solid considering you only use this like twice a week so it’ll last forever
♦️how i use this: i use this around twice a week after cleansing my skin. then i follow up with the rest of my night routine. 

the only con i can come up with is the pump packaging–it isn’t the smoothest and i wish it was a bit easier to dispense the product. but it is such a minor con that it really doesn’t take away from the product overall. 

🤍product claims: a hydrating serum for dewy, smooth, clear skin
🤍key ingredients: galactomyces ferment filtrate, bakuchiol, niacinamide, 10 types of hyaluronic acid, adenosine
🤍texture: a clear gel serum with medium viscosity. it spreads and absorbs into the skin nicely and doesn’t pill with my other products
🤍no artificial fragrance and no scent either! a win in my books
🤍overall thoughts: i really like this serum! it is just chock full of literally every ingredient that my skin loves, so if i wanted to, this could really simplify my skincare routine to just a few steps since it basically checks all the boxes. in terms of hydration, this is definitely not the most hydrating serum i’ve ever tried, but i can easily layer this with other toners and serums for all the hydration my skin wants. also, the bottle is absolutely massive–at 150 mL, this is the biggest serum bottle i’ve ever seen! i haven’t been able to use this for long enough to see any drastic change in my acne or hyperpigmentation, but this is definitely a very promising product and i will keep you guys updated for sure! 

i knew this was popular but regardless i was really impressed! it’s a ‘soft balm’ so it melts really easily and emulsifies well. it gets all the makeup off, even waterproof makeup, and it’s been recently reformulated as to not sting the eyes. i would recommend this cleansing balm to everyone! it’s an amazing first cleanse and i would def repurchase.
