I am still relatively new to this whole skincare thing.  I applaud the younger generation for being on top of this.....really it is amazing.  My son has been taking care of his skin since he was around 10, but it was mostly acne products.  Now, he is religious about his regimen. 

 I am 43.  I barely have wrinkles.  My skin is fairly good.  I hardly get breakouts, and I just never really saw the point.  Most of the women in my family never got wrinkles and such until they were in their late 70s.  When I was younger, I treated my acne & face because I wore makeup. Plus, I grew up in the 80s and 90s lol.  Does anyone remember what hairspray did to your skin?

I no longer wear all that makeup.  Foundation feels heavy so I don't wear it.  I love eyeshadow, mascaras, and eyeliners tho.  The fantastic color schemes you can create have always fascinated me, but I regress.  Without wearing all the makeup, I did not see the point in a skincare regimen.  Now as I get older, I want to invest in my skin.  I love CeraVe products.  I have tried a few.  As for the rest, it is like wading through a funhouse of ingredients, brands, bottles, jars, and tubs of fluid.  

I wanted to say thank you to all of the people on Picky from the creators to the opinion holders.  My journey through skincare has become much easier since I discovered this app.  I cannot stress enough how helpful Picky's information can be.  When I was looking into each category, it really struck me on how everything was rated.  How many holygrail ingredients especially for you were included was mind-blowing to me.  However, one of the most beneficial things about Picky is the users.   You all seriously help more than I think you know.  The advice on ingredients, products, uses of products, etc is so helpful.  

Once again from someone in a little older generation, thank you to everyone for all your help.  But I am curious as to how many others sort of feel the same way.

I was in the early round winners for the Common Lab Vitamin E Calming Ampoule!!!  I am super excited 😄 😊.   I found out my kiddo also got picked for this one lol. Wooohooo thanks a bunch Picky!!!  I love this app. As some of you know, I got my kiddo using this app recently. A Discussion about Wins Recently

I see people talk about products purchased from a few sites -- YesStyle, StyleKorean, Stylevana, and others. So I was curious on how many of you are Ambassadors/Affiliates for these types of companies.

I am with quite a few myself. The three listed above and more. But really, do you know the difference? The biggest difference is $$. Both how you are paid & what you get in return. 

Affiliate -- is a person who markets the brand in return for a commission. Commission can also increase in % the more people who buy products under your links. You don't make any money unless items are bought. Typically, you have a specific link you use, or tack onto the end of a product page. It's how the company tracks sales. Often times, you pay for your products.

Ambassador -- is a person who promotes a brand, but may not get paid in a traditional sense. Sometimes you get a fixed fee per post of the brand's products, a free product, gifts, access to new items, secret sales, etc. Yes, some ambassador programs offer free products & track sales for commission. 

Both can set terms and deadlines. You may be charged shipping fees depending on where the company is located. 

Either way, the choice is obviously yours. I do advise doing your homework before accepting. Take for instance StyleKorean. I get 3 products from a specified list for $9.99. However when you add in cost of shipping, it comes to $29.99. If you do not finish your reviews in time, they can ban you from the program and/or charge you full price. 

There are many out there that are scams. I am sure if you are on IG, you have gotten the messages "free products all you have to pay is shipping". It's normally outrageous shipping costs too. I've done a couple in the past just to see. The most I was charged was $65 for overseas shipping fees. The products were extremely cheap looking & most were broken upon arrival.

Have you tried @theordinary ? Currently I am using their High-Adherence Silicone Primer. This is the first product from the brand I have used. I have to say so far it isn't bad. 

The Primer is fairly lightweight. There is a more Matte finish, and it hydrates. It is supposed to have a blurring effect to give makeup a more high definition look, but I haven't noticed much difference in that department. It could be due to the foundation or my 8K videos 🤔🤷‍♀️ Either way, it works nicely under my makeup. 

It's easy to use as well. Just put it on right before your makeup . Simple enough.

I'm used to eating licorice, not putting it on my face 🙃

Expensive and it smells like every other product they make


Ok. So I am going to be brutally honest here & we will see what happens. Let me start with the good & then we'll get to the ugly.

Olay does some things very well. Their marketing is well done. They tend to target their ads at the women over 30. Can you name a commercial for Olay where the woman in the ad was 19? Yet, everyone knows Olay. It's like the Apple of beauty products. 

The packaging is beautiful. I haven't found many Olay products where the packaging is not eye-catching. The products tend to focus on specific attributes of the skin & body. 

Let's be honest, Olay products work for people. It is why they are still in business. Take for instance, the Regenerist Collagen 24 Max works as a moisturizing cream. It does hydrate. It left my skin feeling soft & you can see how healthy it looks in my photos, but....& here comes the ugly.

Olay products remind me of my grandma; therefore, my brain thinks of them as "old lady" products. While I know that is not true, I can tell someone is wearing an Olay product just by the smell. 

This particular product was SUPER thick. It took forever to absorb & I still found patches of the white 10 minutes later. If I were going to use this all the time, it would be as a nightly moisturizing mask. However, wearing this during the day is just not going to happen. I would sweat this off in 15 minutes outside & it feels heavier on the skin than I'd like.

Next is the price tag. While this jar was gifted to me, it normally runs $30 to $40 depending on where you buy it. I have other less costly skincare products that do the same job at half the cost. 

Finally, I need to add a disclaimer here. I don't hate Olay products. In fact, I recently made a fairly large Olay purchase because they do make things I want to try. I also buy their body washes regularly because they work. I just didn't want anyone to think I hate Olay products. I don't even hate this one. Would I repurchase it though? Probably not.

The texture was creamy and smooth. I found it lightweight. It was no sticky, or tacky. There was no fragrance that I picked up. If it has one, it's really feint. Once I rubbed it in, I did not notice any white cast. After applying, my skin felt hydrated & had a more dewy finish.

The Water-fit Sun Serum is SPF 50 PA++++ & a non-nano chemical sunscreen. Do what does nom-nano mean? Easy!!  

1. It means the zinc oxide won't penetrate the skin. 
2. It's the safest of UV filter available
3. Protects against both UVA & UVB
3. It's safe for coral reefs & marine life
