Let's Talk about Face Sheet Mask.

Everybody's favourite skin-pampering tool, sheet masks have come a long way in the skincare community. Millennials are obsessed with them, and for good reasons. They hold multiple benefits for your skin, like controlling excess sebum production, clears pores, removing dirt, and preventing breakout. But yet, there are several questions surrounding sheet masks, including which one to use and how often to use. 1. How are sheet masks different from regular masks? -Sheet masks are made by cutting super absorbent fabrics, or hydrolysed gels cut into face shapes and soaking them in potent serums and essences. They are different from most face masks because they are not a wash-off treatment and are more hydrating in nature. They usually formulated with active ingredients that help target specific skin concerns. 2. How often can you use sheet masks? -The frequency of applying sheet masks is purely a personal choice; every skin is different and has varied needs. For instance, excessively dry skin types can use hydrating sheet masks daily, while someone with oily skin might want to use them alternatively. You can use it three times a week or once a day if it doesn’t contain glycolic acid. 3. How to choose a sheet mask for my skin type? -The key aspect to take into consideration while picking a sheet mask is the ingredients. Here are some ingredients you should look for when choosing a sheet mask, depending on your skin type: ✨Dry, dehydrated skin — Hyaluronic acid, raw honey, aloe vera, snail mucin, glycerin, and ceramides. ✨Oily skin — Witch hazel, lactic acid, kaolin, green tea, charcoal and niacinamide. ✨Acne-prone skin — Centella Asiatica, propolis, tea tree, salicylic acid, and colloidal oats. 4. When to use a sheet mask in a skincare routine? -The basic rule is to always apply a sheet mask on after cleansing and toning; this way, the active ingredients can better penetrate the skin. Fabric masks should be applied after toner, and hydrolysed gel sheet masks should be used post applying serum/essence and before moisturiser. 05. How long should I leave a sheet mask on? -The ideal duration to use a sheet mask is between a minimum of 20 minutes and a maximum of 30-45 minutes. Removing a sheet mask too quickly will only leave your face damp, as the serum wouldn’t have enough time to get fully absorbed into the skin. However, don’t leave a sheet mask on till it dries out as that will have the opposite effect, and the mask will start absorbing all the serum that was just placed on your face.
