Stroke of Brilliance Brightening Serum
š§ Key ingredients highlight
This is not formulated with ascorbic acid instead it uses 0.5% sodium ascorbyl phosphate which is a salt form of vitamin C that is more stable. It is also formulated with licorice root extract, niacinamide, sodium hyaluronate. tumeric root extract and red algae extract. Licorice root extract has skin soothing property and it also contain antioxidant that is great for sensitive and inflamed skin.
š§” Current impressions
From the formulation, this product is really catered to those with senstive skin or those who wants to try Vitamin C product for the first time and to ease into routine. One thing I will applaud is that it really helps to fade my Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH) after than nornal.
This is in a 30ML bottle and the dropper makes it very easy to dispense the product. This serum has an orange tone and it has tacky finishing when applied and it does take quite a while for this to be completely absorb into the skin. It has a subtle woody scent although this is essential oil and fragrance free.
On the packaging, it is instructed to apply on almost dry skin. When I applied this on damp skin because I am impatient and do not have the time to wait for it to be dry down after my using my toner, this really sting my skin. I will say to also avoid the whole undereye area completely because that part stings the most. After I learnt my lesson to only apply on almost dry to completely dry skin, the stinging sensation did reduce but there is still a mild stinging sensation. Hence, I was really dissapointed as I had high hopes for this product.
