Wegstehlen Genesis Moist Formula Cleansing Balm

✨ This cleansing balm claims to not only remove make-up, but also to smooth skin, tighten pores, eliminate blackheads and excessive sebum. ✨ This is a translucent balm that scoops smoothly from the tub and is nicely melty, with a scent that reminds me of rosemary and wax crayons. ✨Melted, it has the consistency of petroleum jelly and it already removes a good amount of makeup upon massaging it in, and it emulsifies thickly when you add a bit of water so using a tiny amount is recommended. It can get so thiccc it reaches glue like proportions.😅 ✨ This balm removes makeup quite thoroughly and gives me a good skinfeel. ✨ As for the pore clearing claims, I guess it’s a basic function of any cleansing balm, loosening oil based impurities so your pores do appear clearer and smaller.

It doesn’t rinse off easily — this needs an extra step: either you tissue it off or remove it with a warm sponge or towel before rinsing; otherwise water just bounces off your face. I’m not crazy about the extra step but it does rinse clean once you do this. I also run warm water down the sink when I use this because I know something this thick can clog. ✨I experienced no irritation with this balm, but it has a mineral oil base, (I am blessedly not sensitive to it) but I know a lot of people are. ✨ I think I’ll finish this tub but not likely to purchase a fresh one. I’m a balm girl through and through and this does the job adequately, but I prefer a balm that rinses off better. I’m already double cleansing as it is so I could do without the added step. Maybe if I’m wearing full face makeup, but I rarely do, so I would maybe recommend this more for full-on makeup wearers.
