The consistency in the tub reminds me a lot of gelato or shaved ice. But when it goes onto the skin, it melts on the and then spreads with ease. A little goes a long way and you do not need a lot of product. This balm easily melted my sunscreen. I have used it once since and it dissolves a full face, mascara included as well. When washing the face with water, it washes off with little effort and there is no residue left on the skin.
There is a scent, but it's very pleasant - like a lime creamsicle, and not it is not an overwhelming scent. Full disclosures, the Greens Cleansing Balm does contain orange and bergamot oil which can cause irritation. I have acne prone skin, and this did not further break out.
As a note, this product is cruelty free.
