[PR/Gifted] These products were kindly gifted to me by Dermala and Picky in exchange for my honest opinions…
The interesting thing about proper skincare is that it’s not just about what you put ON your skin…it’s about what you put into your body, too. I don’t know about you guys, but I definitely notice more breakouts when I’m consuming too much sugar and processed foods…my skin shows me right away that I need to make healthier choices.
Dermala has a unique approach to fighting acne and it’s all about finding balance in your body’s ecosystem, the microbiome (in your gut!). The Dermala #FOBO (#FearofBreakingOut) kit contains both topical skincare products and a daily supplement using their special SE Microbiome Complex: a prebiotic and postbiotic blend to help balance the microbiome and clear acne without the use of benzoyl peroxide, retinoids or antibiotics. You can take a quiz on their website and have a customized kit delivered monthly according to your skincare needs.
Here are my thoughts on the two topical skincare products I was given for review:
CLEANSE with Benefits AM/PM Cleanser: This is a mild and gentle cleanser. The consistency is thin and it doesn’t produce a very robust lather. Rinsed off easily and did not strip my skin. I noticed a very slight soapy smell but it wasn’t super scented. In addition to the SE Microbiome Complex, it also contains Panthenol (provitamin B5), Amino acids Arginine, Proline and Glycine, and Glycerin.
SCANTILY AM/PM Acne Treatment Pad: I really liked these a lot. I was worried that they would strip my skin and make it feel tight and dry after use, but the OPPOSITE happened - my skin was soft and hydrated. I don’t typically have big problems with acne, but I do get occasional hormonal breakouts around my chin so I definitely will continue to use these pads around that area. In addition to the SE Microbiome Complex, it also contains 1% Salicylic Acid for gentle exfoliation and 100% Organic Aloe vera to hydrate and soothe the skin.
All in all, I liked these products and think the approach to treating acne from the inside out by balancing the microbiome is really interesting. Thank you again to Dermala and Picky for sending these over for me to review!
