Experience: Features a runny, cloudy white liquid that activates with water to produce a lightly sudsy lather. It gets sudsier the more you pump out, but my dry skin prefers sparing usage. Half a pump is enough for me. I still get the slippery glide over the skin and a clean post-wash feeling. I just don’t get a richer lather, but it’s a non-issue.
Scent: I’m getting a complex bouquet here that gives me a fruity-floral-spicy. I don’t know if it’s just my imagination, but in addition to the rose essential oil scent I’m getting a fresh, fruity hint of something like lychee tempered with a spicy ginger. It’s distinct and gives off that small-batch, artisanal feel.
Effect: Using one whole pump is simply way too much for me and results in a dry feel afterwards. As with other foaming washes, the key is to figure out the right amount for your skin. A half-pump is my threshold, and it produces the same effect as the other foaming washes my skin type tolerates. The sulfate-free formula with a pH level of 6 to 6.5 does work in my favor for as long as a controlled amount is used.
Verdict: I’d recommend this for normal to oily skin types, but dry skin can benefit as well by using a smaller amount and perhaps favoring this for end-of-day use when a deeper clean is desired. The cleansing power is sufficient at removing excess oil and dirt and is at par with thicker consistency facial foams that I’ve tried, but with a runny formula that’s easier to activate with water.
