Packaging: This compact bottle with cap is totally totable, slipping in with the New Normal essentials seamlessly. I appreciate the hygienic nature of a pump dispenser. It tends to dispense a lot if you’re only trying to spot treat, but the amount you get is just right if you want to apply to the areas that the mask touches.
Experience: It gets absorbed fast, and you can lightly tap on a serum and/or moisturizer on top without everything feeling gunky. (Emphasis on the tapping motion to avoid any pilling.) I feel like, if you want to “shield” your skin from the full potency, you can apply it as the last step after all your skincare. But if you want the full-strength treatment, I’d suggest applying in between toner and serum/moisturizer steps.
Scent: It has a mild tea trea oil scent that I find pleasant. It doesn’t linger long.
Effect: As a spot treatment skincare product, I have noticed that pimples seem to ripen faster by 1-2 days. But I also like to use the Maskne Gel as a preventive measure before wearing my mask in an attempt to keep the mask-covered area cleaner for longer. I think it works as the skin irritation isn’t as bad as it usually is. Then I also apply later on at night and then the next day and night after to be proactive about it.
Sometimes it takes a few tries to get the product out of the pump, even with semi-regular use.
The gel has an astringent feel that causes tingling, especially on parts of my skin that are feeling distressed or extra sensitive. Chalk it up to the Ethyl Alcohol and Salicylic Acid content.
