Lip balms are something I need, specially in harash winter and sweating in hot summer. But I'm not very fond of them... Until I found this one.
Most lip balms that are actually effective have a horrible medicine-like smell and taste (and it is impossible to avoid the ocasional accidental lick, it's on your lips!).
I don't have sensitive skin but I do have a sensitive nose and I favour products withour parfume/scent.
This lip balm is thick and creamy in consistency (a must for a lipbalm to last) while having a soft citrus-like scent.
It is a very mild, gentle smell that I personally also found pleasant (but, overall, the smell is not strong).
It even tastes "good" if you happen to forget it is there and lick your lips.
The package is a robust aluminium tin that can be cleaned and repurposed or recycled (in my first one, after I finished, I put some tinted SPF for traveling). Personally, tins are better that the standard lip bar because –and, if you are clumsy like me, you'll know– if the plastic tube falls, it is most likely broken forever.
This tin has dents and marks of every time it has met the floor, but it is still working as always; cap screwing and unscrewing correctly, all the balm in place.
I find cylindric tubes really anoying and those squeeze-soft plastic tubes are a hassle to use once they are half empty.
Plus, LUSH is avaliable in many countries and sends to other where there is no main shop. It is not one of those "miracle products" that are only in one country and cost a fortune to ship.
It does not have SPF.
Until I found skincare, I didn't know it was important to have SPF for lips (unless you go skiing or something like that).
If it is exposed to very high temperatures (i.e summer) for hours, you may want to leave it in the fridge for half an hour or so.
Then again, I've always done this with any lip balm that I've had during the hot days. It is nice when it is a little bit cool and yeah, shea butter/cocoa butter or similar are going to melt in high temperatures. It is normal.
Note for Picky: I undestant that Shea butter is bad for oily skin but this is a LIP BALM. There should be some filter because any lipbalm is going to have some rich buttery-like ingredient that is bad for oily skin but good for lips.
