This is one of the products that I have discovered because there wasn't that much budget Azelaic Acid containing skincare products during the time that I was looking for it so I had to settle for this one. This product claims to treat acne breakouts, reduce pimples, whiteheads and blackheads. It's powerhouse ingredients are Niacinamide, Azelaic Acid 5%, Hinkitoil 1% (cypress tree oil).
Niacinamide and Azelaic Acid are common ingredients that we hear in the skincare world but Hinkitoil (cypress tree oil) sounds foreign. Cypress oil, the ingredient used in this product is an essential oil made from the twigs, stems, and leaves of the cypress tree. It is said to have antibacterial, antimicrobial, and antifungal properties. This means that applying cypress oil topically can reduce the severity of acne by killing bacteria. While it did reduce my blackheads and acne, It is actually an oil based serum and as someone with an oily skin, it is quite heavy for me and it makes my skin produce more oil throughout the day. I was able to finish a 30ml bottle of this in the span of 3 months because two drops are good for my whole face already. I can say that there are very little changes to my hyperpigmentations given the fact that I have used this product day and night for quite a long time. I think that the Azelaic Acid is quite too low and Hinkitoil needs to be more credible and researched. The issue I have with hinkitoil is that I haven't seen much products with the same ingredients and it makes me question it's efficacy when it comes to skincare. Maybe there are a lot more better alternatives than hinkitoil. Having those two powerhouse ingredients out of my picks, we are now left with the only ingredient I like which is the Niacinamide 10%. So it's like I just bought a Niacinamide serum for a much more expensive price.
This product really isn't for me and I won't even consider repurchasing because it's quite expensive compared to what it can offer. I have tried other serums and even tried higher concentrations of Azelaic Acid and it worked wonders for my skin so I would better settle for those. If you have sensitive skin, better look for other alternatives as this one contains essential oil and could be a possible irritant
