This is a water-free formula that’s based in propanediol. If you’re not familiar with Propanediol it’s a base used in many different products and has a bit of an oily texture although it’s not an oil.
This serum definitely has that thick oily texture. However, once applied to the skin, it’ll dry down to a more natural glow within a few minutes. For this reason I would recommend this product for Combo to dry skin.
I have been exclusively using this product daily as my only Vitamin C Serum for 6 weeks straight. During this entire time, the color of the serum still runs clear, it hasn’t oxidized at all. 👏
I normally cannot handle your average water based Ascorbic Acid formula, I end up with a compromised skin barrier and lots of breakouts. So I was a bit nervous to try this one. I’m happy to report it doesn’t cause any irritation whatsoever. 👌🏼
Now let’s talk about efficacy. Normally with a pure Ascorbic Acid serum, I’ll notice brighter skin within 2 weeks of use. That wasn’t the case with this one by Farmacy. However that isn’t to say it didn’t work, I started noticing brighter, more even toned skin at around week 5. I can now look into the mirror and see a visible difference. 👍🏼
