đ¤The Ordinary 2% Salicylic Acid Masque reviewđ¤
The Ordinary is a brand that needs no introduction! It is loved by many for itâs simple yet effective skincare formulation and their affordable prices.
The Salicylic Acid is a HG ingredient for my oily acne prone skin, so I was really curious about this mask and finally had a chance to give it a try!
2% Salicylic Acid Masque is a mask specifically formulated for blemish prone skin that helping to reduce the appearance of imperfections, clarify and renew the complexion.

âď¸Kaolin
âď¸Squalane
âď¸Glycerin
âď¸Salicylic Acid
âď¸Charcoal Powder
âď¸Price: ~10 USD for 50 ml tube
âď¸My experience:
This mask is clay based and has typical clay maskâs texture. Itâs infused with charcoal powder that I suppose is giving it a black colour. The mask is unscented and spreads easily over the skin. It supposed to be applied on dry skin for up to 10 minutes, then rinsed off.
2% of Salicylic Acid is quite potent concentration and even though Iâm not new to this ingredient and my skin isnât really sensitive, it did irritate my skin fist few times Iâve used it. Nothing too bad though, just a bit of burning and redness that goes away within 20-30 minutes. After fists few uses there was no irritation anymore.
The effect of it on my skin is pretty similar to any other clay mask. It does absorb the excess of sebum and temporarily makes the pores appear smaller.
Due to SA in the ingredients, it does help to reduce small pimples and tiny bumps on my skin making my complexion look clearer.
However, it does cause tightness when dries up on the skin and itâs pretty difficult to wash off. Tightness persist after washing the mask off and my skin feels quite dry.
Iâm also finding that leave-on SA
formulations (toners or serums) used on regular basis provide my skin with better results then mask used 1-2 times a week. Plus, itâs obviously less hassle then with a mask.
Overall, itâs an effective mask that provides benefits of both clay and SA, however I prefer leave-on SA formulas for my skin. It is worth trying, however, I wouldnât recommend it for people with sensitive skin.
