Origins Drink Up Nourishing Avocado Lip Butter 15g
🥑 Price Point: S$32 for 15g
Expensive for a lip product
🥑 Key Ingredients: Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil
Contains BOTH fragrance (limonene, citral) and EOs (Eucalyptus, Orange Peel)
🥑 Brand Claims: Rich, Comforting Texture, helps prevent dehydration and keeps lip soft
🥑 Does the science back it?: Somewhat (see the next 2 pages), the main component of avocado oils (essential fatty acids) are a great addition to your skin barrier
🥑 Texture:
This is essentially a nourishing lip balm with a creamy texture — I really like how this one is really really thick and it was so nice for my chapped lips. I applied this overnight and my lips felt so hydrated and soft the next morning.
🥑 Thoughts:
This product contains way too many fragrances and essential oils, and the packaging even highlights the essential oils present in the product as if it were a good thing to have. I….. Lip products are honestly the last one to include fragrances & EOs, as the lips have a very thin stratum corneum, and are generally most prone to irritation. Fortunately, i guess my lips were pretty resilient and were fine.
The thick texture of this product is honestly the best part about it, as it is really hydrating for the lips. However, nothing that good old vaseline can’t achieve. The price tag is definitely unjustifiable lol.
🥑 Verdict: 2/5
This is a no go lol. Way too overpriced, and does contain way too many fragrances and EOs. The only reason it got 2 and not..0 is its really nice and thick texture, which kinda (?) makes up for it.
