I purchased the version with shimmer, which is a shimmery take on the classic version of the balm. It uses biodegradable iridescent pearls of tin oxide to give a hint of shimmer where applied. It works as well and looks as good on the cheeks as it does the lips. It also works as a great occlusive layer at night.
The ingredients are simple and uncomplicated:
Ricinus Communis Seed Oil-often used in lip products and there is some research indicating it has moisturizing properties on the skin
Helianthus Annus (Sunflower) Seed Oil-noncomedogenic oil that moisturizes, can boost SPF efficacy, aids in fighting fine lines and promotes wound healing
Olea Europaea Fruit (Olive) Oil-a natural anti-inflammatory, can help with wound healing and is also high in hydrating squalene and protective antioxidants
Carica Papaya Fruit Extract-provides exfoliant properties and soothes bumpy skin
Aloe Barbedensis Leaf Extract-has moisturizing, emollient, and anti-inflammatory benefits
While I enjoy this product as a thick occlusive layer on the skin at night, and it’s nice to use to achieve more of a glass skin look, I really like this product at night as a lip balm. But, it’s definitely nice to have so many options to use it for! In the pic, I’m wearing it more heavily on the upper cheekbones in place of a highlighter, as well as a light layer over the whole face, and it seems to have done a nice job. Even better, my skin is being nourished! Given this is my third tube, I think it’s safe to say I will repurchase!
