I received this product for free from Picky and SKIN1004 in exchange for my honest review.
I’ve tried many SKIN1004 products and this is yet another good and well formulated one!
It’s fragrance&essential oil-free and, in my opinion, it has no scent although other people claim it has – guess they have a finer sense of smell than I do!
There are several praiseworthy ingredients:
▫️ Niacinamide – also known as Vitamin B3 or Nicotinamide, it’s a skincare superstar with several proven benefits for the skin: it’s a great anti-aging and wrinkle smoothing ingredient, it helps fading dark spots and it increases ceramides synthesis for a stronger, healthier skin barrier and better skin hydration.
▫️ Uvinul A Plus – a chemical sunscreen agent with high UVA protection and high photostability.
▫️ Uvinul T 150 – also a chemical sunscreen agent, but it gives the highest photo-stable absorption of all available UVB filters today.
▫️ Tinosorb M – a new generation “hybrid” sunscreen agent with a nice broad-spectrum coverage (it means that is UVB as well as UVA protection).
▫️ Uvasorb HEB – another chemical sunscreen agent that protects in the UVB and UVA II range (but not in UVA I).
▫️ Glycerin – a natural moisturiser that’s also in our skin.
▫️ Centella Asiatica - a great plant ingredient with proven wound healing, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties.
▫️ Green Tea - proven to be a great antioxidant, UV protectant, anti-inflammatory, anticarcinogenic and antimicrobial as well as a great choice for anti-aging and also for skin diseases including rosacea, acne and atopic dermatitis.
▫️ Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Hyaluronic Acid – in simple terms, Hyaluronic Acid with 3 different molecular weights.
▫️ Adenosine – a good anti-inflammatory agent that helps with wound healing, barrier repair and protection.
▫️ Tocopherol – also known as Vitamin E, it has emollient and antioxidant properties as well as significant photoprotection against UVB rays.
Well, that’s enough “science” for today, so let’s talk about my personal experience with this product! ✍🏻
It has a creamy texture that seems pretty heavy while you’re spreading it on your face, but it’s lighter than it seems: in fact, you just need to rub it for few seconds and it instantly sinks into your skin.
It’s quite hydrating so – in my opinion – people with combination and oily skin have no need to use a moisturiser first. I applied this sunscreen with no moisturiser underneath and my dehydrated combination skin felt hydrated anyway during all the day.
Right after the application, it leaves a sticky finish but it easily disappears in about 10 minutes – in my personal case.
Just as it claims, this sunscreen has a dewy finish so, if you like a more natural or matte look, you should definitely apply a powder over it.
The only thing I dislike is the dispenser: in fact, the quantity dispensed with a single pump is not enough to protect your skin. I suggest you to apply from 4 to 6 pumps – it depends on your face size.
I experienced no white cast – but I’m pretty pale – and absolutely no pilling, even with several reapplications.
I also intensely cried wearing this sunscreen while I was watching a movie (Avengers: Endgame, iykyk 🥹) and it absolutely didn't sting my eyes, not even a little.
In my opinion, this sun serum could fit every single skintype, from the oiliest to the most sensitive, you should just trust me and give it a try!
