Rose Intensive Tone Up Cream

product review positives
🌱 Brand Story: Some by Mi’s website is only available in Korean, so there may be translation errors. Since 2017, they have been creating skincare for a teen and young adult customer, focusing on acne care. Their recent redesign has focused on clean ingredients and more sustainable packaging. 🌱 Claims: Alcohol-free, Paraben-free, Sulfate-free, Allergen-free, Fragrance-free, Pregnancy-friendly, Non-comedogenic, Oil-free, Fungal Acne-Safe, Eczema-Safe Combines anti-aging ingredients with hydration and a toned-up glow 🌱 Key Ingredients: 70% Rosa Centifolia flower water Niacinamide and arbutin will help lighten dark spots over time when combined with consistent sun care. 🌱 Notes: The thing western audiences should note is that with a tone-up cream, the white cast is a feature, not a bug. It’s intended to even out redness and give a bright, matte complexion. Similar to strobing creams, but without any shimmer. Tone-up creams can be worn alone or under foundation. 🌱 Despite containing a fair amount of titanium dioxide, tone up creams are not rated as sunscreens and should be used with proper sun care. 🌱 Texture: A medium-thickness cream with a pale pink tint to its opaque titanium dioxide base. 🌱 Scent: Roses. Roses all day long. 70% rose centifolia water will do that. This stuff smells amazing. Picky lists this as fragrance-free, but it gets its scent from rosewater, not synthetic fragrances like Limonene or Linalool. It still has a scent. 🌱 Price: $20CA for 50mL or $0.40/mL 🌱 Application: This cream will bump your skin tone up from half to a whole shade due to the titanium dioxide. This cream will sheer out if you buff it into the skin, but apply too much, or use too much pressure and it can settle into fine lines. That isn’t unique to this cream, though, and anyone who uses a mineral sunscreen will be familiar with this issue. Use a light hand and build it up with soft layers and you will get a natural matte brightening. 🌱 Every day: If you like the cosmetic look of tone up creams, this can be worn every day, but it should not be used as a substitute for properly rated sun care. 🌱 Packaging: This is the old packaging of this product and Some by Mi have redesigned their line. 🌱 Accessibility: The tube has a flow-restricting tip which prevents major spillage. The cap could use texture bumps to aid in grip. 🌱 Sustainability: This tube cannot be refilled or recycled, unless you are willing to cut it open and clean it. 🌱 Overall: I would recommend this to anyone with fair to light-medium skin who is looking for a matte brightening product. This product may not work on medium to dark skin, but I have very fair skin so I don’t want to speak for those users.
product review negatives
🌱 If you are looking for a cream without a white cast, all tone up creams are intended to have one, as a way to highlight skin. 🌱 Despite having titanium dioxide, this cream is not rated for sun protection, and should be used in combination with sunscreen. 🌱 Smells quite strongly of roses, some people may not like a scented product.
