Robynrose review for Vegan Melting Lip Balm #02 Dry Rose

🌱 Brand Story: Mixsoon is a rather new entry into the world of vegan Kbeauty but has already produced a few cult favourites like their Bean essence and Soondy Centella Asiatica essence. (Mixsoon does not have their own website in English, so some translation errors may occur) 🌱 Claims: Vegan, Cruelty-Free, Silicone-free, Fragrance-free, Paraben-free, Key Ingredients: 🌱Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Wax 🌱Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter 🌱Euphorbia Cerifera (candelilla) Wax 🌱Shorea Stenoptera (Illipe) seed butter 🌱 Texture: A bit soft for a lip balm. Definitely keep this away from excess heat like a hot car. This glides on very smoothly, and oddly enough for how soft it is, it doesn’t leak or feather outside my lips. It seems to maintain its softness, instead of melting into an oil. 🌱 Scent: This product has no scent, and no intentional** flavour. 🌱 Shades: This lip balm comes in clear, and a cool-toned red MLBB shade 🌱 Price: $14CA for 4.1g or $3.10/g 🌱 Application: One unique thing about this formula is that it feels quite “matte” in my lips without being drying. Lots of lip balms seem to immediately dissolve into a thick oil that runs into the side of your mouth. This formula is a bit more wax than oil, so whatever you put down really stays nicely in place. While this applies just fine, and moisturises quite well, here is one glaring problem. If you happen to lick your lips, it has an incredibly strong, acrid and bitter taste to it. Like bitter medicine. The kind of taste that you would put on things to discourage puppies from chewing on them. It is, quite frankly, very off-putting. I don’t need my balms to be flavoured like cherries or vanilla, but this is deeply unpleasant. I wasn’t able to wear this more than a few times because I found myself puckering my mouth at the bitter taste. 🌱 Other uses: Since this balm has such a strongly bitter taste to it, I’ve used it instead as an under-eye and nose crease balm this winter. It works great to provide just a little extra protective moisture where you need it. 🌱 Every day: If you can handle the taste! 🌱 Notes: I am not sure if everyone will taste the bitter note that I can taste. I am a highly sensitive “supertaster”, and someone who cannot eat any cilantro because I taste the bitter, soapy compounds in it. 🌱 Packaging: Standard twist-up lip balm with a pull-off cap. 🌱 Accessibility: I appreciate the longer pull-off caps as they give better grip for those with motor issues. 🌱 Sustainability: I wasn’t able to translate fully from Korean, but I believe this is made from a similar post-consumer plastic as the Nacific lip balm, which is a nice touch. 🌱 Overall: If it weren’t for the taste, this would be a lovely lip balm. If you are not taste-sensitive, it provides excellent moisture and won’t make dry lip skin peel.
