🌱 Centella Asiatica Extract (9800ppm) - 9800 ppm equals 0.98%, so any ingredient after this will have less than 1% concentration. This is not necessarily bad, many ingredients are effective and less irritating at low percentages, but it’s a good thing to note.

🌱 Camellia Sinensis (green tea) Leaf Extract - antiaging, antioxidant
🌱 Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Sprout Extract - humectant, antiaging

🌱 Texture: A soft cream that starts out opaque but blends out clear. Has a satiny moist-but-not-shiny finish. Very enjoyable.
🌱 Scent: None at all, not even sunscreen ingredients!
🌱 Price: $36CA for 50mL or $0.72/mL
🌱 Application: Probably the most “matte” of the creamy, hydrating sunscreens, in that this formula won’t give you that shiny, glossy finish that some do. It’s still very moisturizing, it just won’t look greasy once absorbed. This probably won’t be mattifying for oily skin, it just provides a dewy, satiny finish on normal to dry skin.
As to the claims made above, yes nothing too outlandish. The amount of soothing ingredients is not terribly high, but it contains a diverse medley of soothing, restoring and anti-aging ingredients along with UV protection that will allow skin to take a break from UV and oxidative stress with consistent use.
It’s a friendly formula that plays well over top of serums, and underneath makeup.
🌱 Every day: This is an excellent choice for everyday sunscreen. Fantastic finish for normal to dry skin, and absolutely no scent whatsoever, not even the normal “chemical” smells of unscented sunscreen. You should be wearing an SPF every day that is comfortable for you.
It’s better to wear low SPF that you can wear comfortably and consistently than high SPF that you are inconsistent with. And anything is better than nothing. :)
🌱 Notes: this formula has T-Butyl Alcohol in it which is listed as a fragrance, but it’s way less than 1% and I cannot detect any scent at all. I would call this formula unscented.
🌱 Packaging: I love, love, LOVE a pump on a tube! It’s portable, it’s accessible, it cuts out unnecessary plastic, it’s excellent ingenuity. The sunscreen is also packaged in opaque tubing to protect it from UV light.
🌱 Sustainability: The tube has a non-recyclable “other” symbol, meaning it is made from a composite plastic, or cannot be recycled for another reason; the likely one being that the hard plastic pump is fused to the tube, and so the components can’t be washed before recycling. The cap can be recycled. This product cannot be refilled.
In order to be more refillable / recyclable,
Skin1004 could switch to a classic bottle and pump, but that would make the design a little less portable. Just a matter of design tradeoffs.
🌱 Overall: If you have normal to dry skin and are looking for a no-nonsense everyday sunscreen with high UVA (photoaging) protection, this is absolutely one to try. It’s comfortable, clear, and doesn’t require any extra finessing to look good. It’s not fancy, but that’s the point. This is the sunscreen you bring with you everywhere.
