💧This is a 100% plant-derived oil and has only one ingredient: squalane. It’s clear, lightweight and non-greasy, and claims to help hydrate and protect the skin, bolstering the skin barrier and locking moisture in.
💧Squalane is a hero ingredient for me, and one that’s never missing from my routine. Two years ago I had a really bad cycle of seborrheic dermatitis — itchy bumps that would progress into red, painful and flaky dry patches and I tried so many things but squalane was the only thing that turned things around.
💧I usually add a couple drops of squalane in my moisturizer, although now I have a squalane-based moisturizer slotted in the evening so I do a layer of squalane in place of my sleeping mask a couple of times a week. This keeps my skin barrier intact and my moisture levels optimal.
💧 As pure squalane goes, I really can’t tell the difference between an $8 squalane and a $38 one so I’ve been using the more budget friendly ones.
I dislike this plastic fliptop packaging. One, it’s harder to control the flow of the product. Two, it’s hard to tell how much product I have left inside. Three, when oil pools around the rim and down the sides of the lid it makes the bottle slippery. Four, the plastic is so flimsy this bottle gets knocked over so much and flies across the floor. I know this packaging keeps the costs down but I think it takes away from the value of the product. Oh and the pronunciation guide reads squalene, not squalane, which are not interchangeable!
