First thing first, I love the simplistic deep green glass bottle! Just like the color of Cica! 💚 The bottle has a nice weight to it.
The essence contains 59.12% Centella Asiatica extract paring together with polysaccharides (snow fungus). I actually love eating snow fungus in desserts. It has a squishy jelly texture. The essence looks and feels very watery but once I start patting it in on my face I can feel it becoming more and more viscous. I like to layer the essence (especially the runny kind like this one) a few times to get the full effects. Although it is labeled as a calming solution, it feels quite hydrating on the skin as well. There is minimal sticky/tackiness even though I am applying more than a few layers of it. So far I have experienced zero negative reaction from using this and I have very sensitive skin! As I have only used it for a little less than a week so I cannot attest to reduction in redness or sensitivity. This essence does have the signature distinct scent of Cica, which is kind of herby earthy and a bit like an Asian pharmacy. The smell does not linger.
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5
This essence is great for oily/combo sensitive skin type. It is very lightweight and also surprisingly hydrating and very soothing. I will continue to use this to judge the long term result for redness and skin strengthening. I plan to do an updated review in the future.
