The Essence Curl and Hold Mascara was one of the first mascaras I ever had with color. Before that, Essence only had transparent mascaras. This one was bought for me by my mom. Honestly, I like it. I really like the applicator, and I haven’t used it in a while, but I still have it stored somewhere. Since I moved houses, I’m not sure where it is, so I can’t take a picture of it right now. However, I know it’s in one of the boxes. Since I don’t use it often, I keep it at the bottom.
The reason I don’t use it as much is because it smudges a lot. I tend to rub my eyes a lot—sand or something always gets in my eyes, and I end up constantly scratching them, which causes smudging. It’s a personal issue of mine. I don’t think this mascara is waterproof, but I’m not sure if the formula has changed since I first received it when I was about 14 or 15 years old. One thing I’ve noticed is that it feels heavy on my lashes, and sometimes I can feel the weight. To try and fix this, I use a silicone brush, which I bought specifically for cleaning up excess product, especially around the lashes. It’s just that the mascara feels too heavy on my eyes. There might be people who don’t have this problem, but it’s something I personally struggle with.
