40% Collagen Peptide Plumping Serum

product review positives
The 3rd of May 2021 marked the official release of the new Aprilskin Collagen Peptide Plumping Serum. This purple anti-aging elixir is formulated with 40% plant-derived soluble collagen (400,396ppm), plus 3 forms of peptides (11,900ppb) to create a lightweight serum for use all year round. Furthermore, it contains a hylauronic acid complex made up of 7 types of hyaluronic acid (510,200ppb) to help with moisture retention skin deep. It helps to achieve firmer and plumper skin – improving skin’s overall elasticity. Other notable ingredients include niacinamide, artemisia vulgaris (mugwort) extract, adenosine and oryza sativa (rice) bran extract. As with most of Aprilskin’s recent product releases this new collagen serum is: ✔️ 100% Vegan ✔️ 100% Cruelty-free. Other artibutes: • The natural scent is practically non exist • Hypoallergenic • Free from mineral oils, essential oils, Sulfates, Phthalates, Alcohols, Synthetic Dyes, Synthetic Fragrance, Gluten, Parabens. First impressions: I’ve been using this serum for a week now pre-release, and so far I can say that I’ve already noticed the hydrating and skin plumping effects from the retained moisture. As with most collagen serums which also contain hyaluronic acid, the instant skin plumping effects are more so a result of the hyaluronic acid rather than the soluble collagen itself. Is this a bad thing? Well, with the ongoing debate concerning whether or not skin can actually absorb soluble collagen through topical treatments still being a factor to consider when determining if a product like this is actually fighting signs of aging or just providing a short term fix, I don’t believe I can truly claim that the collagen is beneficial for my skin. You can say I’m jumping the fence here, but collagen is a tricky ingredient. We may feel the inner hydration benefits, although we’d need some insight into what’s going on within skin after using such products to make a bold statement about its benefits. I don’t know about you but I definitely don’t have a AI-powdered skin analyser machine at hand to help me get a clear picture of the benefits of collagen skincare 🤷‍♀️ Let’s focus on the texture. Texture: This is by far one of the lightest and fast absorbing can collagen serums I’ve ever tried. In comparison to the Medicube Triple Collagen Serum, a sister brand to Aprilskin, it is even more light and smooth to the touch and that says a lot when the Medicube one is already light enough. The texture glides well due to its high water and glycerin content. It not as sticky as animal derived collagen, but provides a good medium between slightly tacky and almost undetectable.
product review negatives
It's a bit expensive, costing around $33 on average. Also, you only get 35ml of products which makes it even harder to justify the price. Other than that, I didn't experience any bad effects from the product itself.
