TirTir Red, HALP!

Hello Picky Fam 👋🥰.. Your girl, DJ, is in dire need of some TirTir Mask Fit Red Cushion Foundation guidance from you magnificent artists! Let me first start off by saying, I am entering my third decade, and my makeup skills are exceptionally limited to mascara and lip balm. 😅 I developed severe melasma on my forehead and around my cheeks a few years ago, from lack of sun protection. Though I am treating it, I am tired of seeing a face in the mirror that isn’t mine anymore. I know, I know. It won’t ever FULLY disappear, and I will have to accept it someday.. but who says that day has be today?! I finally got my hands on some samples of TirTir’s Red Cushion. 🤩 Though I admittedly don’t know the first thing about foundation, I do know that I am warm toned, and that the best shade should also match my neck. That being said, the shade I finally settled on is 17W. It blended into my neck seemlessly, and that’s what I wanted most. However, as the photographic evidence goes to show, I am clearly doing something wrong. Rather than giving me that silky, seemless finish.. I am getting cakey splotches all over the place. What am I doing wrong? Before you ask, no, I do not dermaplane. Would I ever give it go? Yes, if I could afford to get it done by a professional, or teach myself without further damaging my face more than I already have. Also, is that really required to avoided the cake face? 😵‍💫🍰 Thanks for your help and input friends! ~DJ

Base makeup usually exposes skin condition, and this cushion formula doesn't do well on dry patches and does not have good longevity on oily skin. You probably need to do something like the 7 Skin Method, or you need chemical exfoliation once or twice a week, or you need a primer to keep oil from breaking through the foundation. But either way, this cushion formula isn't my favorite. I think it went viral because as far as Cushions go it was heavily marketed in the states on social media and it has a large shade range. It's not actually that good.

@miileena honestly it's not bad if it's your first foray into cushion foundation. When I put it on it looks really high coverage and glowy! But I'm oily and have dry patches from Tretinoin use, so it would just end up looking like cracked desert ground after a couple hours lol

Hi! It seems like your skin might be a tad too dry for the cushion. Gentle exfoliation should help, otherwise you can consider layering a thin layer of moisturiser/sunscreen underneath :) I dont use the tirtir red, highly recommend the Jung Saem Mool essential skin nuder cushion as the formulation for this one is amazing imo. It doesnt cling onto my dry spots and leaves an amazing skin-like glow. If you wish to give korean cushions another shot please do try the Jung Saem Mool one!

That’s so weird but I think you and Shasha are right. Even though I do have oily skin, I used tretinoin the night before and I think that is what caused the dryness. I have been seeing this JSM cushion all over my FYP, I will definitely give it a try! Thank so much for your help!

Hm. I don't use moisturizer unless my skin is flaky from tret. It was probably the toner your sensitive skin didn't like. I hope the primer helps, but the best the red cushion ever looks on ne is right after apllication. It only gets worse from there
