Retinyl Palmitate

Why this product is risky? Is retinyl palmitate a form of retinol? Is it something that pregnant/ bfeeding mom should avoid just like retinol?

Retinyl Palmitate is a combination of retinol (pure vitamin A) and the fatty acid palmitic acid. It is proven to be a great antioxidant when applied to the skin but should be banned from your pregnancy beauty kit. Retinyl Palmitate should be avoided when in contact of sunlight which may cause scarring as it makes your skin more sensitive. This product may be deemed risky due to some of the other ingredients inside as well that may not be suitable for you skin type. Such as benzophenone-3 which can cause photoallergic reactions. I suggest using this product with caution, or limiting the amount of sun exposure you get

It is a derivative of vitamin a. The reason why it is considered as risky because like retinoid , it increase sensitivity towards sun and cause some uv related damage and not suitable for pregnant women to use. For lipstick/lipbalm , usually it act as antioxidant and preservative.

If we use skin care that has retinol, we need to use sunscreen to avoid retinol exposure to sun, is that right? So if retinol on lipbalm and it has spf, should I apply another lipbalm with higher spf? I love this product but since it status is risky, I’m quite worry that it has a long term effects. I’m not pregnant by the way, I just wanted to prepare myself if I get pregnant. 😄

Avoid any vitamin a or it's derivatives for the time being. Try bakuchiol instead

But somehow it does wonder to my lips. After few days using, my dry lips are gone. It even made my lips more pinkish. I was about to feel excited that I found something working for my dry lips. 😂 How many days you have been using?
