i always email their official email first to see if they recognize it, i’ve gotten a fake BOJ email that didn’t end with gmail or google so i emailed the official BOJ email and they said it was a scam

Definitely check the e-mail, it has to be a business one or just send them an e-mail saying hi. Sometimes it takes time.
