🧪 Ingredient Breakdown
The current official ingredient list is:
Water, 1,2-Hexanediol, Dipropylene Glycol, Propanediol, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Glycyrrhiza Uralensis (Licorice) Root Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Carbomer, Centella Asiatica Extract, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Arginine, Allantoin, Disodium EDTA, Polygonum Multiflorum Extract, Betaine, Hyacinthus Orientalis (Hyacinth) Extract, Panthenol, Nymphaea Alba Flower Extract.
🌿 1. Centella Asiatica (Cica)
One of the most important soothing ingredients in the formula.
Benefits:
* Helps calm irritated-looking skin
* Supports the skin barrier
* Helps reduce the appearance of redness
* Provides antioxidant benefits
* Can be particularly useful when the skin feels sensitive or stressed
This is one reason the toner is a good choice for sensitive and acne-prone skin.
⸻
🍃 2. Houttuynia Cordata (Heartleaf)
Heartleaf is another major botanical ingredient.
It is commonly used in Korean skincare for oily, congested and sensitive skin.
Potential benefits:
* Soothing
* Antioxidant protection
* Helps skin feel calmer
* Can be useful for skin prone to excess oil and breakouts
This is especially interesting if you have acne + redness + oily areas.
⸻
🌱 3. Licorice Root Extract
Glycyrrhiza Uralensis (Licorice) Root Extract
Licorice root is included mainly for its soothing and antioxidant properties.
It can also be helpful for skin that looks uneven or irritated and is frequently used in formulas targeting the appearance of discoloration.
So this ingredient gives the toner more than just hydration—it also contributes to calming and brightening support.
⸻
💧 4. Glycerin
Glycerin is a classic humectant.
It attracts water and helps keep moisture in the skin.
This gives the toner its hydrating component without making it feel like a heavy moisturizer.
⸻
💦 5. Propanediol & Butylene Glycol
These are mainly humectant/solvent ingredients.
They help:
* Improve hydration
* Give the toner its lightweight texture
* Help other ingredients distribute evenly through the formula
They are part of the reason the toner feels watery and absorbs relatively quickly.
⸻
🧴 6. Panthenol
Panthenol is pro-vitamin B5 and is particularly useful in soothing formulas.
It can help:
* Hydrate the skin
* Reduce the feeling of dryness
* Support the skin barrier
* Soothe irritated skin
It’s a very nice ingredient if your skin becomes tight or uncomfortable after cleansing.
⸻
🌿 7. Allantoin
Allantoin is another well-known soothing ingredient.
It helps make the formula more comfortable for sensitive skin and can help reduce the feeling of irritation.
It is especially nice when the skin is experiencing redness, sensitivity or roughness.
⸻
💧 8. Betaine
Betaine is a moisturizing and skin-conditioning ingredient.
It helps:
* Maintain hydration
* Improve softness
* Reduce the dry/tight feeling that can occur after cleansing
⸻
🌸 9. Nymphaea Alba Flower Extract
This is white water lily extract.
It is included as part of the botanical complex and contributes primarily to the formula’s soothing/conditioning properties.
⸻
🌿 10. Polygonum Multiflorum Extract
This is a botanical extract used in the herbal complex of the toner.
It contributes to the overall antioxidant/conditioning profile of the formula.
⸻
🌸 11. Hyacinthus Orientalis Extract
This is hyacinth extract, another botanical component of the formula.
It is mainly included as part of the plant-based soothing/conditioning complex.
⸻
⚗️ 12. Arginine
Arginine is an amino acid that can function as a skin-conditioning ingredient and pH-adjusting ingredient.
It helps maintain a skin-friendly formulation.
⸻
🧪 13. Carbomer & Hydroxyethylcellulose
These aren’t “treatment” ingredients.
They are mainly texture/thickening agents, helping the toner maintain the appropriate consistency.
⸻
🧴 14. 1,2-Hexanediol
This is primarily a solvent and formulation-support ingredient. It also contributes to maintaining the product’s stability.
🧪 15. Disodium EDTA
A formulation-support ingredient that helps maintain product stability by binding certain metal ions.
⸻
⭐ What I particularly like about this formula
The biggest strength is that it doesn’t rely on strong exfoliating acids to address acne and clogged pores.
Instead, it takes a gentler approach:
Heartleaf + Centella + Licorice + Panthenol + Allantoin + humectants
→ soothe
→ hydrate
→ support the barrier
→ help balance oily skin
→ make the skin environment more comfortable.
The official formula is also fragrance-free and non-comedogenic, which makes it particularly interesting for sensitive/acne-prone skin.
🩷 Is it good for acne and comedones?
Yes, especially as a gentle supporting toner.
If your main concerns are pimples, blackheads, whiteheads and excess oil, this is a good toner to use alongside your actual acne treatments.
However, it is important to understand that this isn’t a strong exfoliating toner. It doesn’t contain the classic BHA/AHA exfoliating system you’d choose specifically to dissolve stubborn pore congestion.
So I’d think of it as:
Calming + balancing + hydrating toner → YES
Strong pore exfoliator → NO
⸻
💦 How to use it
After cleansing:
Cleanser → Numbuzin No.1 Toner → Serum/Ampoule → Moisturizer → SPF (morning)
You can apply it with your hands and gently pat it into the skin. For sensitive skin, applying it directly with your hands rather than rubbing with cotton can be more comfortable. It can be used morning and/or evening.
For very sensitive or irritated skin:
Apply 1–2 layers.
For dehydrated skin:
You can layer it 2–3 times, allowing each layer to absorb before the next.
For oily/acne-prone skin:
One thin layer is usually enough.

Overall: 9/10 for sensitive, oily, acne-prone or redness-prone skin.
If your skin tends to have both acne/comedones and sensitivity, this is actually a very sensible toner because it focuses on calming and balancing rather than aggressively exfoliating the skin.
