Product Authenticity

Hi! Any tips on how to check the authenticity of the products you bought online, especially for those foreign products that you bought from a merchant/reseller. I used to have an app that verifies authenticity through the barcode but I noticed not all brands are there, and sometimes it's not working fine. Do you use any application or anything? TIA 😁

I had a big passion for perfumes. So while not being a pro when it comes to skin care I think I know at least a bit how to tell if your product is a dupe and maybe this is also of some help to you. 1. Ask yourself how likely it is that someone would fake this products. For niche products or products in a lower price range it is *highly unlikely* that someone would fake it. 2. Search for product pics from other people (the Picky Reviews are great for this) and compare those to your packaging. Is everything sealed properly? Do the languages match? Are there spelling errors? For high end products you can often find guides on how to tell apart an original from a fake. 3. You probably did this but check the reviews for your chosen reseller :) 4. If your barcode scanner doesn’t work it might also be due to local differences. Get a barcode scanner app designed for the product's origin country. This might do the trick. As a little extra, which might not be relevant to you specifically, but I‘d still like to add it: 5. I think it‘s much more likely to get ripped off by some illegitimate „new“ Insta skin care brand. Always check whether their web site has a proper contact info, check for reviews for this brand etc. Check whether their pictures are real or stolen from another site/product (google reverse image search). I hope I could be of some help ☺️

I don't use any apps but I always make sure that whenever i buy skincare products I always check if it is connected or recommended by the brand. They usually put the links of the stores where you can buy the products per country.

I make sure the product and the pic from the real website matches. Also reviews from the reseller page/site really matters for ensuring authenticity

I personally like to order from websites that are verified or talked about by famous skincare gurus cuz I feel thair agents/managers will make sure they're authentic so as to not affect their own reputation. I'm not sure if this is 100% fool proof but this is just what I do lol
