ECZEMA

I went to a derma today. And just today, I found out that I have eczema (i heard the word, but never bothered to research it, I have no idea what it is until today ๐Ÿ˜ž) only if i knew, i couldve prevented it. Now I've been having flareups since last week, that I thought is just normal (insect bites?) Derma said to avoid dairy/milk products (which I was eating for the last month almost everyday) she already prescribed me medicines & products that is a great help for itchy skin, it has been doing well for about 2hrs already. I want her to actually explain it thoroughly to me but she has many patients to tend to, so we don't have enough time to explain it to me. She just showed me picture of what it is and explained my medication. I focused too much on just my face that I neglected my entire body ๐Ÿ˜” (biggest regret) I've been reading articles on google about eczema, but If ever you're having the same situation as I am, or you've gone through one, let me kno how you prevented or get over with it. I also want to know more about what eczema is, what really is the cause. Or you've experienced it, what caused it?

Every skin is different, so allergens that cause my egzema worse might not be the same for you. I would recommend making a journal - that's how we figured out that I got lupine allergy, I wrote down what I ate or used, it was easier to figure out what's wrong with my skin this way.

I recently got an eczema flare up too! Iโ€™m not sure what caused it but my doctor thinks it may be because of the weather or some weird allergen that triggered it It started as a red and bumpy, itchy area on my left hand then it spread to my fingers and other hand. Iโ€™ve had tiny trouble spots before but not entire areas of my hands! It was kinda crazy. I was prescribed with a corticosteroid and it went away after a few days. Hope your skin feels better soon! I also have a tendency to only care about my face :(

Eczema's origin is still unknown up to this day. Flare-ups sometimes occur spontaneously without a particular reason. That is why there is no cure for it. The only thing you could do is to manage it until it goes away on its own. Usually, moisturizing adequately is the way to go. Look for lotions that contains urea and fatty alcohols as they help moisturize dry skin. Because people with eczema tend to have dry skin on affected area. Moisturize also to avoid excessive scratching as this can aggravate the eczema more. If the itchiness is unbearable, you can always take OTC antihistamines. These drugs work by binding to certain receptors, thus blocking histamines (the thing that causes itchiness) from binding to it also. It's taken once a day ๐Ÿ˜„

This all is such a good point!! ๐Ÿ’– All the time, I'll not bother to put moisturizing lotions cuz i always feel uncomfortable and feels sticky (perfumed lotions lol) But the one prescribed to me makes my skin soft & moisturized and i had a good sleep last night bec. I stopped itching. (I think I overshared โœŒ, thank you so much tho โ˜บ)

I suffer with eczema!! Itโ€™s an ongoing battle. These are a few things that may help Oat baths-pop a couple of handfuls of porridge oats into a pair of tights and tie up. Add to your bath water and massage, the water will go milky. Bath for 20/30mins. Try changing your washing powder/liquid and fabric conditioner to unscented (even better if you can get an eco-egg, itโ€™s a mineral clothes cleaner). Aveeno have a great range of products for eczema prone skin. Avoid fragrances. If you think itโ€™s something in your diet that is causing it cut out one food group at a time for 2 weeks to see if thereโ€™s an improvement โค๏ธ
