Chapped lips life 😭😭

Hi everyone πŸ‘‹ I'm new to the Picky community ❀️(why didn't I know about it beforeeeee 😭) but have been exploring skincare (especially kbeauty) for quite a few years~ One thing I've always struggled with is CHAPPED LIPS 😭 it comes and goes, but I notice it alot when hayfever season arrives (ie. just arrived in the UK) and I'm non-stop thirsty and nose doesn't stop being itchy (ahhh) πŸ‘ƒ I end up with really flaky ass lips, and am always so tempted to bite/lick them and pick at the skin on my lips πŸ˜” evidently, saliva has never been a good moisturisier and only makes them drier.. Also, I read somewhere that using lip balm makes your lips drier in the long run?? Anyone heard about this? So I'm always eternally struggling between using lip balm, licking my lips and drinking water πŸ˜…πŸ˜… Any tips/recommendations to banish chapped lips? Maybe I'm not exfoliating them enough..? Thanks for the help guys ❀️

1) drink plenty of water (there are times that i really don’t drink a lot and my lips get super dry, hydrating yourself is the key!) 2) use your toothbrush to exfoliate your lips 3) use a lip scrub to remove the dead skin 4) put petroleum jelly if you’re scared to use a lipbalm here are the products that i’m currently using: for the petroleum jelly, i use the one from Apollo (sadly it’s not here in the Picky app) but you can use other brand of petroleum jelly

Thanks for the reply! Yes defo trying to be more on it with the water~ oh yaa toothbrush! Great idea, I'll give it a go today xD imma try making a sugar lip scrub today before bed as well :) I always thought petroleum jelly was the same thing as lip balm tbh.. also I heard it doesn't actually hydrate your lips, just protects them like a "shield"

Contrary to popular belief, it’s not necessary to exfoliate our lips but you can remove the dry skin gently using the method described by Doc Ja (IG: @thedermamamaph). As for products that helped me, I use petrolatum or cica cream as lip cream before bedtime. My lips are sensitive so lip masks don’t work well for me. Don’t forget to apply a lipbalm with SPF in the morning. I noticed that skipping this step makes my lips dry and flaky. Use this laneige lip mask. Don't forget to drink lots of water, and don't lick your lips. They will dry up more.

I swear by using Lucas Papaw ointment on my lips. It's my lips saver for any season. I just leave it on overnight/use it like a lip mask.

First is keep drinking water regularly! It helps a lot! Since I'm one of those people that rarely drinks water, it shows a lot of differences when I'm drinking enough water or not πŸ˜„ For additional care, I usually scrub my lips and using lip mask every night! The scrub helps my lips to absorb the mask and lip balms πŸ˜€
