I do most treatments in my PM routine (i sometimes do it in my AM routine if I'd just stay at home)
Whenever I use actives, I always use soothing and barrier repair products.
If I use a peeling solution tonight (which comes with a lot of barrier care after this) I can use a BHA treatment the night after. Then focus on hydration after.

I still experiment with acids as I've had some bad experiences 😅.
What didn't work for me:
- TO AHA+BHA used once a week + TO Glycolic Acid toner used every day PM -> this combo cleared my skin at the beginning and I was enjoying it for a few weeks but after some time my skin became waxy and very sensitive because of overexfoliantion
- TO Glycolic Acid on my neck caused me a really bad burn that I had to heal for over six months
- Alternating GG Smooth Out exfoliant and PC bha liquid in PM routine -> cleared skin nicely but after few weeks of consistent use once again overexfoliantion
What did work:
- using GG AHa Smooth Out once a week + Paula's Choice bha liquid once a week -> cleared my skin, improved texture, no overexfoliantion and no barrier damage
I also use Adapalene 0.1% every other night. I noticed that BHA + retinoid combo works well for pores and clear skin (I tried this combo because of @skinchemy, I recommend checking this doc out on instagram!).
I will link all the products I mentioned below.

I appreciate you for sharing your experience! 🤍 These are all noted. This is my first routine that I added one more acid though hehe so I need to be vigilant.

I'm alternately using tretinoin and BHA and my night routine cycle looks like this.
Tretinoin night
Barrier care night (means no actives, purely barrier care products)
Tretinoin night
BHA night
Barrier care night
Barrier care night
Repeat♻️
If i feel like my skin is being too dry i bump up the barrier care night up for 1 to 4 nights. it depends, I'm very cautious when it comes to my skin barrier's health hehe.

I agree. Somehow I’m scared since I don’t have specific products that contains barrier care. 🥺

I would recommend using the AHA and BHA one to two times a week, on their website they recommend a maximum of three times a week. Retinol, as it is not a prescription, is softer but start using it three nights a week, after 1 month you use it every other day. I like it this way as my skin is sensitive but if you tolerate it you can use it every day. Hope this help you.

Noice.
I also have all three kinds of acids
I used BHA or AHA in the morning and then used my Retinol night
So far this has been the most effective way for me to used it without making skin peel
Remember
AHA and BHA is making your skin exfoliate on days you don’t apply it. For some people these breaks in the days works better for them
Retinol is something I would incorporate every night. To reduce irritation and dryness. I layered it with a moisturizer

Yea, I heard that you can use acids in different time of the day. However, I’m confused on the part where they use AHA BHA in the morning 😅 because the one I’m currently using from GM is advised to be use at night. I wonder if those acids come in toner forms?
