The alcohol is why people raved about it.
It gives the sunscreen that nice texture. It has a lot of humectant and moisturizer to combat the alcohol
Denatured alcohol in the right formulation is beneficial to product feel and texture.
My Biore also has a lot of alcohol but it makes applying so much easier

Alcohol in sunscreen makes application so much more cosmetically elegant.
In this case formula is always the key. Almost all my sunscreen have alcohol denat or ethanol and because the formula is good I experience no dryness.
However if you are extremely flaky dry, and sensitive to alcohol best avoid.

Dry/Sensitive
That's how it often is with products.
One or two influencers get paid to say its awesome and then all of the others just repeat it. Even if it was not awesome for them. People just want to be part of the hype trend and either lie or convince themselves of something working good for them even if it's not.
That's my explanation.

I would say that formulation & concentration mattered the most. Anything that use excess will do more harm than good😇😇
