The Inkey List Salicylic Acid Clenser

Hey, may I know your experience with The Inkey List Salicylic Acid Cleanser ? I want to know: 1) Whether this cleanser cause you any purging or not ? 2) Do you use it as your daily cleanser ? 3) Is it okay to use this cleanser when you’re using Paula’s Choice 2% BHA ?

I’ve never used this particular cleanser but SA as an active will cause purging in any form whether it be a cleanser, toner, or serum. The Inkey list is one of the stronger SA cleansers out there compared to CeraVe. I know many individuals use SA cleansers as a treatment, and even though it is a wash off treatment it can still dry the skin out. I’ve used a Benzyol Peroxide wash as a treatment wash but supplemented it with a hydrating wash in between. So for example, I used the BP wash 3x a week and went in with my normal cleanser the other days to avoid harsh exfoliation. Since your skin is sensitive like mine, this is what I would do to avoid feeling like the Sahara desert. If I were you I would either do the wash or the Paulas choice but not both at the same time. I think your skin would cry unless you’re using the paulas choice as a spot treatment. I didn’t have much luck with it, and the Paulas choice made me purge like crazy, but again that’s normal.

Thank you! Your comment is so helpful. Yes, I have a dry skin and sensitive skin and I really do think I’m facing the purging phase right now.

I’ve started using this cleanser after building up my skincare routine and incorporating some strong acids to my skin. So i dont experience any purging whenever i use this cleanser. I dont use it on daily basis coz i have other opened cleansers as well. I think you know your skin best whether you want it to be your daily cleanser or not. I read somewhere that some have experienced purging/skin become sensitised after using it and some dont. I reckon you should only use 1 active/acid in your routine coz there might be a risk of over-exfoliate, which is a total nightmare for me. Hope this helps 🙂

1) Any products that contains ingredients that speed up skin cell turnover is likely to cause purging, especially if you're starting on it. 2) I do use it as a daily cleanser but only in the AM/PM, not twice a day as it will irritate my skin in the long term! 3) yes! You can use it with PC BHA. I do that myself. However I make sure to use a gentle cleanser beforehand rather than the Salicylic Acid Cleanser as I feel it would irritate my skin.
