I use a reusable cloth mask instead as it produces less friction on my skin. you can also look into silk masks! if you're worried about the protection you can try double-masking, putting a regular medical mask on top. I also bring with me several spare cloth masks when I head out, and change to a fresh mask every few hours or so. it really helps with keeping my face relatively clean. other than that, I regularly use exfoliants like BHA and AHA to keep breakouts away. i also use benzoyl peroxide as a spot treatment or spread a thin layer on my face as a preventative measure. hope this helps!
